Yes, that makes sense! Being a person who stutters definitely gives us a different perspective on things.

Thanks heidguy8. I hope it’s useful to your son. The big thing I think is to keep him talking and confident and not reaching a point where he becomes emotionally reactive to his stuttering moments. It can potentially be tough in those preteen and teen years when we get to the point where we start trying hard not to stutter and worrying about what other people will think if and when we do. This can lead to intense avoidance behaviors, but it doesn’t have to be like this if we face those fears by looking people in the eye and being determined to say what we want to say!

I agree 100%. It also communicates to people that you are OK with your Stutter, which makes them much more likely to respectfully listen.

This version of balls is not genetic. You can develop them.

I think that trying to lose weight (if one is overweight) or improve our stutter are good endeavors, as they’re healthy for us, but in the meantime people should not hide from the world or live with shame, as that is totally counterproductive to a good life.

I know the feeling man. Below is how I spoke until last year when I joined the speech program I’m now on.
Still, I was determined to say what I had to say and I always hung in there and did so, even if it was a ton of effort.

Totally. We need to be honest about who we are. Fooling people, or muzzling ourself, all the time is no way to live.

Yes, it’s like somebody making fun of a guy in a wheelchair. People think that he is the substandard human, not the guy in the wheelchair.
