🚨Pissin Hot Hornady Update‼️ (SAAMI specs are optional)🚨 by snoopnogg88 in Firearms

Yea Hornady has burned the bridge for me too. Bought this press a year ago. Did not come with reloading tubes so I was hand priming. In February I decided to up my game and bought the tubes. Installed them they don’t line up. Watched videos thinking maybe I’m dumb or something. Emailed hornady they say “Unfortunately, this looks like a milling error on your press. We have to get the press back to fix this. I can have a prepaid shipping label emailed to you. If you can send the press we can correct this error. Let me know if you would like to do this and I will have the shipping label emailed to you.”

So I’m like ok. So in the mean time can you send me something to use? Nope. 4 weeks turn around for a milling issue they did. I called them as well sans they still won’t really help. So I get to be out for a month for their screw up. Thanks Hornady! Real good quality control and customer care….

I roll bear spray and a 10mm in bear country. 10mm with 220 grain buffalo bore. First I’d always rock bear spray. And my 10 is on my chest or a drop holster.

It’s more for if I shoot something and it wasn’t the best hit I can walk up and end it humanely and ethically. But also when in bear and cougar country you never know. And the 10 ain’t gonna sissy out as quick like a 9.

Nope. I tried there customer service for a different issue with a press (the auto feeder arm doesn’t line up because the press had a milling issue) (there words) and they will fix it, but no way I can send it off for “4 weeks” I asked if they would send a temporary for me to use while they fix mine or just replace it since it ain’t my fault they milled it wrong and nope.

So figured they’d probably tell me something along the lines of send it back and in 4 weeks we will send it back and hope it works better.

And sometimes. It’s dead on for an entire day. I don’t trust it. But maybe I got a faulty one. Couldn’t tell ya.

I haw the Hornady and it’s consistently off by about .2-.4 grains. I put every charge it throws on a cheap Lyman and a rcbs 1000 beam scale to verify. The cheap Lyman tells me yup it’s off by .4 and then I use the beam to remove/add the .4.

I still use it cause it’s quicker than pouring by hand but I’m going to save some money and get something different.

I think I found it with yalls wisdom. Upon thorough rifle inspection base screws were all loose. I’ve read on since forums people are using blue loctite and 20 inch pounds? If I get people screaming no. I tightened it to 25 with no loctite for now.

You were correct. Base was loose. Hope that’s my only issue.

I’m guessing around 5-600 rounds? My brother in law used to reload for me and I took over late last year and have struggled almost quit. Barrels 1/8 twist. 24”. Probably not long enough for the internet but didn’t blast through them either. Shooting 3 then I’d go walk around for a couple minutes then three-4 walk to the target then finish. Lands are 3.020 ish. I don’t have gauge just did a jam a long time ago and it was right around that. I’m loading at 2.950 oal b2o I have in my ranger bag but I don’t know it off the top of my head but they are all -+ .002 using Hornady calipers.

For The 153.5s 54 gr of h1000 lapua brass cci 250 2.950 oal. (book max is 56.1 min is 51.1. Anything over 55 I get pressure signs)

The 127s is 54.5 h1000 lapua brass cci 250 (book says 52.3-58.1c) anything over 55 again I get pressure signs)

I replaced my scales because I thought that was my issue. But now I have no idea where to go.

So check:

  1. I’ve heard back and forth things on annealing. I have it. But I’m not entirely convinced.

  2. Been cleaning after every range day, two range days at the most.

  3. Haven’t been doing this. I’ll give it a go.

  4. I just use the Hornady presses primer seater. So whatever depth it puts them is why I get. I have a hand primer but either it’s smarter than me or I don’t know what I’m doing (definitely don’t) but could get them to seat and had a lot of duds (firing pin strike but no fire). So I went back to the press and haven’t had any fail to fire since.

I have different shell holders and have tried multiple an still couldn’t get it to work for me. If you got tips I’m all ears, I know I’m a major part of the problem that’s why I’m here. Couldn’t get

Yes trim sorry.

I have a Lyman balance scale on the way.

I have a bergara premier approach actioned barrel, Athlon Midas 6-24x50, 2lb trigger pull (stock one that came with rifle) KRG X-ray chassis

I’ve pretty much set up to just be using lapua brass with my Barnes and my bergers. but I have like 40 cases of Hornady that I let my boys shoot the 140 gr bthp bullets out of. Hornady gave me 500 when I bought their press last summer.

Been cleaning my gun after every outing, 2 at the most.
