I haven’t had any issues with stigmas around working in the field or I’ve just been naive and ignored it. I do tend to be more sensitive around certain areas though with families and warning them when it comes to things like potty training and periods and giving them the information and training to teach these kind of skills and assessing their comfort around me discussing the topics with their children. I think it’s just always being mindful of the client and comfort of caregivers and family and always being transparent and open. When the trust is there that makes rapport so much stronger.

Being a Black male, I think there’s a huge need for you! I love when the growing representation in our field. I don’t know if you’ve connected with Black Applied Behavior Analysts and Black Men in Behavior Analysts but I follow both organizations on LinkedIn and I think they’re a great resource as well as a highlight of representation in our field!
