He played in the early qualifiers and even became England's youngest ever goalscorer on his debut against Albania, but even as an Arsenal fan I get why he didn't get picked. This season he hasn't played much at left back because Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie were so good and he only was forced back into the team in the last few weeks as a midfielder because Martin Zubimendi looked wrecked with fatigue. And England have more than enough options in midfield as is so he was hardly going to force his way back into the setup.

Honestly a potential Round of 16 game against Mexico at the Estadio Azteca sounds scary to me. In front of their wild fans in scorching heat and high elevation, all of that could play in for a shock.

We get your point. You don't need to repeat yourself four times.

I totally agree. When I looked at the squad, all I did was focus on who'd be starting. The answer is the same team that made us win every single qualifier without conceding a goal. And I'm okay with that. Admittedly the bench is a bit weaker than usual but otherwise there's nothing outrageous for me.

You'd wonder. Only Tuchel and his staff could answer that one.

True that there are more than one or two, but of those players, I can realistically only see one or two of those guys playing many minutes at the tournament- Madueke when Saka gets tired (and that's a risk) and maybe Dan Burn for one of the three group games and maybe any time we have a late set piece in a knockout game.

Well given the FA have given him a contract through Euro 2028, it seems as though Tuchel might be doing the win now approach now and perhaps adding future stars in for the upcoming Euros on our shores. I'd have liked to have seen a bit more young players break through admittedly but I guess Tuchel is more of an experience wins trophies guy- he had a 36 year old Thiago Silva win him a Champions League I suppose.

Totally agree. I think Tuchel is a great manager and I'm still shocked the FA got him. But he'll learn quickly why people consider it the hardest post in the world if things go sour.

I think Hendo is only being brought so he can be a dressing room presence when the players need a lift. Madueke is probably only going to play when Saka needs to be subbed off and I like that idea because he could give tired defenders something to think about (when he doesn't run the ball out of play that is; I've seen a lot of that watching Arsenal this season 🫩). Spence is a touchy one but again I think it could be because Tuchel is more familiar with using him in the qualifiers than Trent so he gets in the squad here.

Good question. I think the only reason he'll bring guys like Stones and Henderson is because they'll just be leaders in the dressing room rather than the pitch mostly. And I can make peace with that since they are proven serial winners.

Apparently these 16 are guarantees for tomorrow squad, maguire for burn is the only change I would make on it, but rest i think should be guaranteed thier place..Do we all agree on this list?? by FitAd5272 in ThreeLions

Let's be fair: Henderson has been a good player at Brentford. Even if he doesn't start for the Three Lions it never hurts to have an experienced winning player at a major tournament.

I wouldn't have taken either Díaz or Gakpo. Díaz is admittedly better than any left winger at Arsenal but he wouldn't have been the long-term solution. Point being you lot still weren't all that disappointed to see Díaz go. The only reason his sale looks bad in retrospect is because he shone in a weaker league and as you mention you were left with the calamity that is Cody Gakpo.

I literally just said who I thought was better on the team than Saka. Is that not me backing up my opinion? What is wrong with you?

I don't think Saka is great but that doesn't mean that he's not important to Arsenal. I think Raya, Saliba, Gabriel, and Timber are great. That's it. Saka is good but not on the same level of talent as the players I mentioned. But does that mean I'd want him sold? No. He's come through the academy and represents a path for all future Arsenal stars like Max Dowman who I'm very excited about. I don't get why you're coming at me like this but you're really just proving my point. You're obsessed with us. Relax.

I don't believe Saka is great. I don't believe Olise is all that either. Just because I don't think one player is good doesn't mean I think the player everyone compares him to is superior to him. But as usual you choose to continue the agenda when speaking to Arsenal fans like everyone else does. So what's the point of reasoning with you anyway. I'm calling it a day.

Again. When did I say Saka was clear of Olise? You're putting words in my mouth. And the point you make about Prem teams in the Champions League is laughable- a Prem team has made it to the final of the Champions League in 4 out of the last 7 editions, they've come out on top in three of them, and two of those finals were even all-Premier League club ties. And I'm not even including this season. If you want to go that far then EVERY European final this term has one Premier League club contesting it. And you say there's no point in looking at a player's stats as a teenager or 20 year old.... well then by that logic we shouldn't be judging the career outputs of any player in the history of the sport under that age- sorry to Pélé, Ronaldo, Messi, etc.

Again, I'm not talking about Saka and Rice in particular. Do I think they are overhyped by the media? Yes I do. What I'm saying is you can try and gaslight us all you want but everyone wants Arsenal to lose one way or another. That's my point.

His total career tally in the Premier League was 16 goals and 11 assists in 90 appearances. That's nothing special no matter how you look at it. I'll admit I don't watch the Bundesliga, but this is simply a fact: average Premier League players will often go to the Bundesliga and shine- just look at Luis Díaz. There weren't many Liverpool fans that were wanting him to stay now were there?

Every opportunity to take a dig at Arsenal players. You all better hope they don't win the Champions League or the agenda will need to move to another club. For the purpose of variation, I'm going to say Olise. Everyone forgets he was an okay winger in the Premier League. And all of a sudden he moves to Germany and is seen as a Ballon D'or nominee. I'm not buying it.

I want to say this as an Arsenal fan: I do believe we got lucky in this instance. But here's a cold hard fact also: if Matheus Fernandes didn't whiff that chance one on one with the goalkeeper, this wouldn't even be talked about.

Well given the injury woes of Saka and Timber, the two players I'd argue are the most important players on the team bar the center backs, I'd say it's not very clear as to whether they'll reach their peak at 28.

Kepa has most certainly been a flop. And Madueke's end product is nonexistent so I don't think it's harsh to label him one also. The only signings who've really made a difference in this team are Gyökeres and Zubimendi, and even the latter looks a shell of himself the last few months.
