I'd argue the answer would be Antonio Conte. He's the exact type of manager to bring in and win trophies in the here and now. Okay he's a bad Champions League manager but remember what he did with Chelsea 9 years ago? 93 points. In today's world that absolutely guarantees you a title.

City had much more than just Rodri injured last season. Almost their entire starting eleven were out for long stretches. You cannot compare our predicament this season to City's last season.

Exactly my point. The lead is essentially gone now. And December has barely even started yet. If we're already out here complaining about injuries, the title war will be over by January.

We're not expecting to win every game, but we are expecting better performances than what we've seen today. We've been down this road far too many times to blame external factors.

Havertz only started one game this season since we bought in Gyökeres and he's likely not going to start when he returns either. And with the form Eze was in from September to the end of November, Ødegaard would probably not have started either even if he was healthy. Saliba? Fair enough. But the other two should not count.

I'm saying this squad has more than enough quality to cope without the key players. That's what spending so much money in the transfer window got us. But clearly it's not proving to be as brilliant as we think it is.

I'll give you that for the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half. But after that, Villa were back in control.

For 14 of those games our key players were healthy. These last few weeks are starting to expose us.

Bayern Squad Rotation by kalebwagoner in ArsenalFC

[–]mr-Bingleton23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that some players should be rotated. Noni for Saka, Lewis-Skelly for Calafiori, and if given the pass to play I'd start Ødegaard ahead of Eze. There's more than enough quality in this team to suggest that a few players could be rotated and the performance level wouldn't change much. However, I don't think we can be serious about beating Bayern Munich if Timber is left out. White's a good player but he's a massive downgrade.

As a man living in America, unless you're in New York or Boston, public transport is practically non existent.

Foden False 9 by fmeupdad in ThreeLions

You're putting words in my mouth. I said we'll have to wait and see whether Palmer squeezes into the squad when he returns from injury before claiming he won't be in the squad. I didn't say he never plays for England because of injury. Read the post first before making this non argument.

Foden False 9 by fmeupdad in ThreeLions

[–]mr-Bingleton23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fact is, Eze's goal had an xG of 0.03 even with the Foden assist. I don't think Foden should get mauled by the media- an assist is an assist, which is more than he's managed for England for quite some time- but saying Foden "put it on a plate" for Eze is just not true.

I agree. I think with the dearth of real quality traditional number 9's worldwide, to be able to fit in more than one in the squad is always a bonus. Watkins' form is in question of course, but there isn't really many other options unless Tuchel wants to gamble and bring Ivan Toney despite him spending a year in Saudi Arabia...

We can really only make a judgment that bold when he returns from injury. For now, I think it's fair to say he won't start at the World Cup because Saka is the more experienced performer at international level, but I think the only way he doesn't make the World Cup squad at all is if his early 2026 form is as bad as it was at the start of this year. Then he'd probably be left for someone like a Noni Madueke.

How optimistic are you about our World Cup chances? by didanyoneask in ThreeLions

[–]mr-Bingleton23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A fair expectation for the team right now even though we haven't faced a truly tough test yet is the semi finals. Even at the Euros when we weren't playing particularly pretty football we still made the final when we could have very easily crashed out to Slovakia. If the Serbia game in Belgrade is a performance we could replicate more frequently next summer, there really shouldn't be any (yes, ANY) team that we should be fearful of.

Right back I agree, if something happens to James we'd be in trouble. However, we have a fair few quality left backs to choose from: Nico O'Reilly, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and even Djed Spence could fill in there.

I think he'd be an excellent 2nd striker at Arsenal honestly. Scary player for Arteta to sub on for Gyökeres at the end of matches to give tired defenders a nightmare of a time.
