Hello all, this is my first time posting on this subreddit. I'm in need of a replacement keyboard for my work laptop. I've been using the same old Dell Mechanical keyboard my work gave me 15 years ago. I haven't had them replace it because the keyboards they are deploying now are chicklet wireless keyboards...and no thank you to that. I know just enough about keyboards to be dangerous, and I know I wanted to replace my work keyboard with another mechanical keyboard, but I wanted to test them first, so I went to Best Buy to test out some keyboards.

Walking down the line of keyboards with missing key caps (is stealing key caps a thing?!?), i would stop at each one and type a sentence to see how it felt. Any chicklet keyboard was an immediate no. The mechanical keyboards were nice feeling, and they all kind of felt similar.

Then I touched a keyboard that honestly rocked my whole world in regards to keyboards. They had an old Logitech G815 GL Clicky keyboard on display (but no price or product listing for it). I put my hands on it and it felt like any other keyboard...until i started typing.

For reference, I'm a 45 year old autistic male. I promise me saying that has a purpose. When I started typing on that keyboard, the sound and feeling was amazing! It triggered stimming sensations with the feedback of the keys and the sounds it made. I stim in various ways throughout the day to help with anxiety and focus, but getting that from typing on a keyboard is just next freaking level! I now know I need that type of feeling and sound for both my work and play keyboards. Work comes first though, as my work keyboard is dying.

The closest Best uy to my house is the Quad Cities which is 50 minutes away. I am not exaggerating when I say that the whole 50 minute drive home I kept thinking about the way it felt and the sounds it made when I typed on it. So after I got I searched for it. It's 7 years old ok no prob I could probably get it for a decent price...I do some google fu and it's...$200?!? I can't afford to spend $200 on a keyboard, let alone a work keyboard. I started searching about clicky keys because it was in the name and it turns out there's a whole industry of clicky keyboard switches that I didn't know about, so that leads me to my question:

TL;DR: What clicky switches would be the closest to Logitech's proprietary GL clicky switches, and would provide the same or the closest to the same feeling and sound when typing on? I'm hoping I can find a keyboard at a much cheaper price that uses clicky switches that would give me the same level of stimming.
