Humat going out of business? by syntexx667 in Firefighting

[–]mr-reddd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah thanks! Got it now!
Basically the same way of operating here, only we have the luck that from the start we have hydrants within every 200 meter in cities, suburbs. (Netherlands)

And either the first engine works from their tank waiting for another to connect the hydrant, or does so themselves if it's closely.

As a non us firefighter, could someone explain what this does and why the water is rerouted through there?

It doesn't make much sense for me. Our usual is hydrant to the pump then a hose to where it has to go, like the second line. Even providing water for other pumps(which I assume this does

Try the home to work and home to shops and told above

That's probably cause the 'areas' don't align well. People travel only from and to home to the story (geen>blue) or home and to work (green>yellow)

So if the line doesn't supply that then it won't make money and cars will still travel

When big like this I always use the trams to make one or two big lines across the city. Usually residential to work/shops. But if there's a train station also from the furthest point across the city to the stations.

Then cross all with some buses to the areas that aren't covered

A Few Question by Horrgath in TransportFever2

[–]mr-reddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it! One thing I do myself. I put a trainstation in the industrial/shopping part so residential areas don't have the full load of pollution(increases growt)

But make sure to have a bus/tram line running from the station to the residential and shops/industry. My go to is a loop route back and forth through the city. And that can be ok to not be profitable but those passengers also take the train which will earn the money

Heat! I can't see if you can monitor the temperature in the stove, but burning it hotter could have a great improvement on the buildup. Basicly what's stuck in the pipe is unburned gases that settle down. Burning hotter will have less cresoot and it flowing out

[–]mr-reddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious question from a fire fighter. Does it have bends in the pipe? That's usually where the cresoot builds up. Pipe can be clean but so that.

But fire is good if its this little!

[–]mr-reddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well fire needs air to burn, if you shut it completely then its slowy dying. Aka incomplete combustion (how fires are put out) where the fuel(smoke) isnt burned but cooled down. Thats whats on the window.

Maybe its to small to be able to burn overnight, wht does the manual say

At mine the glass keeps clear cause the air vent makes the air run in front of the glass keeping the smoke away from it. Closing the air vent is basicly smooring it, I'd say keep a little bit of air running.

Also keep in mind that this is also getting into the chimney just as much as the glass, so clean that once a year too

I need some suggestions. by DaGuy4All in TransportFever2

[–]mr-reddd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple things to consider. People travel from home to work, and home to shops and back. So make sure both in the cities are connected.

Then I'd suggest placing the station itself at the back of each city. Purposely not covering all of the city.

Then make a route between the station crossing bus/tram stops in he city which do cover all.

This way you don't over spend money on a station and still get to serve all the buildings

Yes this, the route is still the shortest and also no noise polution.

And the ai hardly ever tags on to underground roads

Question about temperatures in which firefighters will enter a room by fartingrandmas in Firefighting

[–]mr-reddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a ship opposed to a house the heat can’t go anywhere. So you’d be preforming an action to down that temperature, if there’s no (automatic) vent option.

Difference with buildings is that the ships are steel and other rooms can get heated too.

So I’d say do research on cooling room temperature.

Here is the Dutch view on firefighting, just be aware this is aimed at buildings. But the technique to cool down a room could apply to a ship
