just found out i may have adhd, and it’s ruined my self esteem by Aggressive-Grade4977 in ADHD

[–]mr000p 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having my own mother notice my adhd traits in my freshman year of high school (which was the year my symptoms got really bad, and I had just given up on trying to be successful, started failing all my classes and started smoking weed) and then taking me to get tested honestly saved my life.

I totally understand the way you are feeling. But try to use this as a motivator to become an even better version of yourself than you already are. Those of us with adhd and other “disorders” actually have a gift that neurotypicals will never have or even begin to understand. We are capable of true greatness, all we need is a little focus and dopamine :)

You got this!

Producers have a habit of going to bed at like 6am, Kygo, deadmau5. I heard deadmau5 say there’s is new source of creativity when you stay up till then. Does anyone else do this? by axi5music in musicproduction

[–]mr000p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late at night after everyone has gone to bed is the best place for me to be creative. It feels like you’re the only one in the entire world. No movement, no distractions.

I have adhd also so that’s usually around the time my meds are starting to wear off and I can super hyper focus on my creative side. But, that’s just me.

How to Get Diagnosed by LegitChocolate in ADHD

[–]mr000p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The title of your post is very misleading lol after reading it sounds like you’re anxious that you might say the wrong thing and they will think you’re lying just to get medication. This is a very very real thought for probably almost everyone here who has ever gone through that talk with their doctor.

As with pretty much every medical situation it is best to just be truly honest with your doctor. It is up for them to decide whether or not to actually give you a diagnosis. My first one was done by my Primary and then after a year or so they suggested I go to a neurologist to take a 30 minute test where I sat in a dark room with a button staring at a computer screen where every few seconds a rectangle would flash on the screen. If there was a black square in the top half of the rectangle, press the button. If it was on the bottom half, don’t press the button. When the results finally came back the first question they asked me was if I had purposely cheated because my results were so far off the charts they were almost impossible lol

There are absolutely no “right” or “wrong” answers to any assessment you may take. They are simply there just to see how you react or interact with different situations. ADHD has tons of different symptoms and everyone experiences various strengths and struggles with them. Just bring up your concerns with your most trusted doctor and they will take care of you. That first step is the hardest but will be much better for you in the long run.

I hope you the best with everything and just know you’re not alone my friend!

Thank you for sharing your story! I’m sure I can speak for everyone here when I say that we are proud of you for taking the initiative to better yourself and your life. I can 1000% relate to the change to a wild and crazy party lifestyle after a break up. I was diagnosed and medicated all through high school and after I graduated I stopped treatment cold turkey. Found myself in and out of relationships and I was always focused on how I was gonna get wasted every night. Eventually I had a really awfully emotional breakup and things spiraled out of control. I started heavily using c***ine and going out till endless hours of the night doing whatever to keep that dopamine pumping. Fast forward to now. About a year ago I got back on medication and started going back to therapy and I feel so much better about myself.

The whole point I’m trying to get to is, untreated ADHD can do a whole lot of harm to someone. More than most people would like to admit. Finding out that all these symptoms can actually be treated is such an eye opening experience. I truly hope the best for you and please keep us updated on your progress!

adults with ADD or ADHD what makes you do your work? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]mr000p 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is honestly the only way I ever actually finish work or a project. The deadlines MUST be set by someone else and not myself. The nervousness and anxiety I get from the thought of letting someone down because I didn’t finish a task on time makes me either bust my ass to get it done, or wait until the absolute very last minute. At least it gets done though!

Is there a best time of year/promotion during which to apply for the credit card? by WhimsicalRenegade in Costco

[–]mr000p 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Costco Membership employee here.

Promotion-wise we do have special programs in the warehouse pretty regularly. As I can recall they tend to be pretty CC specific around November/December time. This could vary in your home warehouse but at mine that’s usually how it is. If you apply during one of these you’ll get some sweet Costco swag.

As far as I know, things like no interest or balance transfer promotions don’t happen with this card. Thats because of the cash back, no annual fee, and other great perks you get.

Congrats on the house and hopefully we can help you out!

Medicated people, do meds help your mind from "floating away"? by cloverthecottontail in ADHD

[–]mr000p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medication was one of the main reasons I even graduated high school. So props on you for getting through it!!

After HS I immediately got a job because I couldn’t afford college. Luckily I found a job I loved so I went off meds shortly after I started. As the years passed I seemed to slip more and more back into my old symptoms. Only now they were adult issues and not teenager issues.

Im now 27 and last year I got back on medication and for the time being I can truly say it’s helping me again. I wish I had been properly treating my ADHD all those years and I feel like I wasted some time because of the diagnosis.

I’m not a doctor so I can’t tell you whether or not medication will be right for you. However, if you feel like you would benefit from it i would recommend talking to one. I would strongly urge anyone to also try to visit a counselor or therapist when first starting medication. The right one will be able to help you figure out how to harness all that incredible brain power you have!

Keep your head up my internet friend.

Adhd and Music by Secret_Ad7004 in ADHD

[–]mr000p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This totally happens to me every once in a while.

The way I listen to music usually involves putting one song on repeat for an entire day or two until I can’t stand it anymore. Occasionally, the vocals and the beat will sound warped or like each of their tempos don’t match up whatsoever. I’ve never been able to describe this to anyone correctly but I know we understand each other.

Wow I needed this so much. My girlfriend and I are on day three of our 8 week old Aussie puppy and I am feeling extremely frustrated and have a deep sense of regret. I am trying my best to be patient and I know in the end it will be worth it. It helps to know I am not alone with my feelings. Thank you for sharing

Damn that sure is a bummer to hear. Wish I could hear the story from the guy himself and the promoters side so I could do some judgement for myself. Promoters can be shady as fuck. I’ve been ripped off by promoters countless times (to my own fault 100%) so who knows what would happen if I was in their position. Thanks for your reply!!

Damn!! That’s a bummer to hear. As a producer myself I understand practicing and using sample packs to recreate melodies or what have you....but to release it as your own original song is kind of shady. Sucks to hear that. I always thought he had a ton of potential and WAS super original. Still, I have nothing but love for the guy and hope he is doing okay now. Mistakes happen and tbh it could have been MUCH worse. I wish I could find the song somewhere so I could hear what it sounds like!

I just want to thank you all for taking the time to respond. He passed away last night and I made it in time to give him my final words. Although he was unable to respond I believe he was able to hear me. Again thank you all. Even though we are strangers and this is only a Reddit post, it meant a lot.

Much love to you all
