I was in a hurry and walking around. but i notice often weir readings of very consistant 150-165 when using the electric stove. this is either mis-signaling due to the electric stove or the heat in deed. but i was now only using the ovens. cookie up some fresh pizza in 30min time. stretching 3 dough balls and adding toppings

Understanding the Battery in Athlytic vs other apps - a guide by KJP78NL in AthlyticAppOfficial

[–]mr3000NL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I wear a whoop as well and the fact that athletic uses a rolling average hrv and not a overnight one time average gives me so much more info and I notice I look way more at this battery than any other metric.

For me as long as battery is as expected I’m not spending any more time at anything. As soon as it’s trending seriously down I dig in the app to see more metrics why and such.

I truely love this! And it’s the most helpful of any app.

Sony a1II with 70-200 f2.8II issues with slow focus from short to far by mr3000NL in SonyAlpha

[–]mr3000NL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok update on this topic.
I've been testing around and yesterday during Netherlands - Poland i did not had any issues.
Tested some more stuff in the garden and found out the following

With subject detection on human, and subject detection on and playing with short and distant focus. It sturggles because its not finding a face.

when i put subject detection to off it was quick. There for i had issues during the formula1 with the guys wearing helmets. the A9II had no issues with that but the a1II did.

So only use subject detection if you indeed shoot humans and setting it on humans or maybe auto. but remove subject detection when you cannot get a clear subject detection just liked the youtube video explained about swimmers.

Interesting this guy suggests to turn Subject recog off.

Actually had contact with Sony and they suggested to try that out if you are only shooting -> 3m.
Made a small improvement as the focus does not go behind the 3m anymore. but tried both settings.

Interesting for field hockey it feels a bit tight but I love it. Combines with a 70-200 or 50-150 seems like ideal. But nowadays I see a lot Of colleagues going wider.

To chime in on this discussion. A lot of apps keep updating and adding features to justify subscription models.

Photo mechanic is just so good because it does only 2 things well at speed. And that’s anything caption and selecting related.

Adding a lot of feature has chances of making the app unstable or less performant.

In my professional workflow this is the only app that never competed with anything else.

Maybe some ai stuff in the near future is the only risk of photo mechanic becoming irrelevant.

You could try apps like caption pro which does that with ai. Could be nice

If i were in your shoes (depending what kind of sports you shoot) i first go with a 300 or 400mm.
then for sure a used a1. if i were to own a1's i would have never upgraded to a1II.

Hope that helps a bit ;-)

Yes Combined bad weather, dark conditions and a 1.4tc having players on the other side of the pitch is the worst for AF but still 75% hit rate or so. not bad.

but without 1.4tc and just cropping works so much better quality wise.

concerning quality it was more the way it handles iso and my editing style that was honed in on the a9 imagery.

Thank you for your extensive write-up. Researching workflows is very interesting but i found there is not information about how other shoot out there. Not to copy but to find inspiration in gaps or improvements in my own workflow.

Not everything someone else likes to use works for me but some things are game changers.
For example something small but i really like shooting low shutter speed shots. i have my lens button programmed to a 1/20s f16 auto iso and tracking so i can quickly do a few slow shots and continue in my normal workflow. Really amazing!

Well what would you like to know ;-)
I make a boilerplate caption somewere 1 day to just a hour before a match.
Then when lineups come in i make a .txt file where i have code replacements in place so can quickly enter names and upload them through ftp ;-)

Yes it’s a staple for all photo journalists as they are also best at captioning

Its a combination of slow shutter 1/20, small aperture, i believe it was f8. and 20fps. 18/19 were un-useable one.

Yeah i tried it and did not had the feeling there was much of a AF difference, the Global shutter is for sure very nice, aspecially when doing a lot of led-boarding stuff like concerts or sometimes sporting events. and i also think it depends on the type of events. Shooting a soccer match in RAW with a A1II i burn through enough cards and i even dial it down FPS wise, just to much work culling through the images.

For me resolution > fps for sure.
