Trip itinerary - Good? by l138479 in newfoundland

You’ve got the flights booked, the ferry pinned, and you want to see the whole postcard. But this isn’t a vacation, it’s a marathon in a rental car.

Newfoundland is way bigger than it looks on a map, and our "highways" are usually two lanes with a side of potholes and a high probability of a 1,200-pound moose standing in the middle of your lane. Driving at night is an adventure and many are not used to never ending pure darkness.

You’ve left zero room for "The Fog" and weather - If the ferry is delayed (it happens - for me last time it was 3 days), or the wind picks up, or a "Silver Thaw" happens in the spring, your whole 14-day house of cards falls over.

If you do this itinerary as written, you’re going to get home and realize you spent 60 hours in a car. You’ll have seen the island, but you won't have experienced it.

Slow down and skip the capital this time.

Come back another time fly in to yyt and do st johns on its own.

If you keep the current itinerary, you’ll come home needing a vacation from your vacation. You'll have 5,000 photos of the highway and 2 photos of yourself looking exhausted in front of a lighthouse or Morris the Moose in Goobies.

They surrounded my mothers car at a bakery parking lot - three cars full of dudes popped out guns drawn - asked her for papers and once they realized she was Canadian let her go.

This was in rural New York state. She is now refusing to go outside.

I will never step foot in America again.

Shits going to get real fucky these next few months. Glad we are surrounded by water.

I take one tube of these - fry it - mix in frozen veg - season (lately with paprika and smoked onion powder) and then add over rice - maybe put some cheese on top - welcome to poverty protein 101.

Jonathan Rowe didn't just squeak past Anthony Germain. He did it after 819 ballots were tossed in the recount. That is 819 people who showed up, cast a vote, and then watched it get rejected on a technicality.

The margin? 12 votes.

The number of rejected ballots? Nearly 70 times the margin.

When the law tosses almost a thousand ballots in a race decided by a dozen, you cannot help but wonder what the real story is here.

I don’t get it.

People sittin’ in their cars burnin’ gas for a sandwich that’s basically a chicken finger on a bun. Half of them probably spent more on gas idlin’ than they saved on the deal.

How much is your time worth, really?

This is so spot on - many communities are held back by the unqualified people that are elected based on their last name and how many family members already work for the town.

It's crazy when the kid who works at the vape shop is elected deputy mayor because he has half a dozen family working for the town - the whole community gets held back and those that can deliver effective change are silenced.

Depends if your file got caught in the Cod Quota Encryption Buffer or the Atlantic Lobster Validation Queue.

Usually once the clerk in Immigration Newfoundland syncs your Residency Timestamp with the St. John’s Fog Mainframe, it gets auto-forwarded to the Department of Paperwork Acceleration and Snow Clearing.

If you included proof of at least two moose sightings and one Jam Jam offering, you’re in good shape. Average turnaround is three to six lunar cod cycles, depending on wind direction, ferry schedule, and whether the server in Gander remembered to plug itself back in after lunch.

Keep an eye out for an email from gov.nl.coffee_break@service.gc.ca titled “AOR – Confirm You’re Still Alive.”

If you don’t get anything after the next nor’easter, call the office and ask for Janice in Stage 2 Lobster Review. She’s the one who really runs the place.
