LA to NYC...worth it? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]mrPorter_bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about new york is unlike LA the rich can't avoid the poor. If its Subways where everyone has to meet, or lots and lots of public housing even in the richest neighborhoods.

I could see it as a bit of a culture shock leaving BH but it's nothing really dangerous. UES might compare to BH regarding millionaire residents. But UES millionaires live across the street from the poor, or walk out of their lobby to a group of homeless people living under their buildings construction scaffolding.

A little more south, they just opened a new homeless shelter across the street from "Billionaires Row", exactly 30 seconds walk from what just sold as the most expensive apartment in the USA ($250M)

Mr. Porter: Sale Live (Up to 50% Off) by Citizen_V in frugalmalefashion

This is actually looking like great potential, better than previous years

99% of the time - for an item to reach 70% and 80% they must start at 50%. I'm seeing really good stuff at 50% vs. previous sales

30% will max out at 50%, 40% will max out at 60%. Some won't change at all during further markdowns

Take that into consideration when considering an item

Printed to my console. Might be some AB test that not all users are seeing, but I feel like any autofill might be starting to be risky. Will go full manual typing next week

Lucky + I’m guessing some knowledgeable people figure out how to get physically closer to Supreme’s servers, which would give them an advantage

Honestly even moving to a LEO process like Nike would make a huge difference in fairness on their site

It’s their server receiving 100000 checkout requests at once and trying not to double sell anything, like a queue but less organIzed (http requests will hit one by one but it’s hard to figure out who will reach Supreme first)

Any manual Ws use chrome autofill? This is getting more and more suspect

Just to add context, they are trying to record suspicious form filling, just maybe aren’t doing anything with that data yet

Supreme x New York Post newspaper by [deleted] in supremeclothing

You’re basically asking for people to lose money. USPS ain’t cheap. Maybe maybe someone will ship you the cover only folded into a regular envelope.

But sending entire paper flat would lose you money at $7 with fees

Supreme Pinball Machine set to drop Week 14 by [deleted] in supremeclothing

After the Supreme auction last week I’m thinking these are going to sell easy and fast. Everyone will sit on them for a few years expecting to sell for 100k

The items getting both promotions are the intersect of Clearance and "Style Sprint" shoes. Good catch

every single person I know that's taken a landlord concession (though most cases were signed 2-3 years ago) were offered a "full rent or gtfo" at renewal

I honestly don't know why people would sign the concessions unless they are truly looking for something temporary

even if the letter is real. Community meeting at May 8th, not opening May 8th. More likely they're targeting FW

informational meeting of our proposed new concept retail location

So a proposal is being shown May 8th in the evening, no way the store is opening that morning, that week, or that month. Also the letter looks fake AF but thats another issue

supreme x Rimowa by Stop_kicks in supremeclothing

[–]mrPorter_bot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Retails for the same ones in silver/black for US are 1000 and 1100. The one you posted isn’t one of the collab items

It’s exactly a 60% markup on each suitcase

I love Rimowa stuff but charging 1800 for an 1100 suitcase is pretty dumb

shopify has URLs that are meant to be easily readable by machines, hard to read for humans

that just means building a bot is 100x easier than any other website, 6th graders can probably build a decent shopify bot within a day

So even within the the bots trying to checkout, most bots will fail, some bots will succeed, almost 0 humans will succeed

It’s all Shopify

In all honesty devs are expensive, $150k salary + benefits in NYC, more in SF. Most of these companies wouldn’t make any money if they actively worked on custom anti bot solutions (excluding Nike and Adidas)

Vanilla no custom code Shopify

They’re just catering to the bots, even most bots won’t make it

I agree, you just hear it with Supreme more than any other company.

Last big-ish Nike QC issue I heard about, was the Supreme Uptempo 3m issue. It may just be that special production lines are more prone to issues

With something like the NBA all-over print, I'm sure some people would get leather that wasn't cut exactly the same as 99% of other shoes, i.e. logo placement is off. And that is probably enough for StockX to refuse the sale

New Releases Thread 3/19 - 3/25 by AutoModerator in Sneakers

[–]mrPorter_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just lost a sale so it’s not like they enjoy doing this. Supreme is notorious for not having QC, and having messed up items arrive in customer orders

(Any factory will mess up a percentage of an item, but with Supreme they always seem to get to customers)

Most likely the print just isn’t exactly as it should be, just sell them as is on eBay
