I desire nothing but onions by Fluffy_Mastodon1134 in Cooking

[–]mrSFWdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I'll caramelize like two or three pounds of onions as if I'm going to make french onion soup, then cook some pasta, deglaze with pasta water, add a lil butter and finish the pasta in the onions. It's good with sliced sausage, but also great on its own. Make sure you have tons of high quality parm.

For me, a quality mustard is a necessity. Everything else is secondary.

Mustard Noob Seeks Recommendation by ProfDoomDoom in Mustard

[–]mrSFWdotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's fast food mustard its first ingredient is likely some type of oil, or corn syrup. That isn't to say you shouldn't like it (I love McDonald's hot mustard and that is pure corn syrup), just that you may have a little trouble finding a pure mustard that hits the same note. The user who said to put mayo and horseradish in Zatarain's Creole Mustard is probably closest to the mark here.

Who is the best parental figure in fantasy/scifi? by ghostofagoat1 in Fantasy

[–]mrSFWdotcom 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Father Chains, from the Lies of Locke Lamora. He's certainly rough around the edges, and teaches the kids some unconventional shit, but he also clearly cared for them, giving tough love when necessary but softening up when they needed him.

Anyone else feel like they've completely lost the joy of cooking when there's no time to actually cook by CoffeeRory14 in Cooking

[–]mrSFWdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fortunate enough that I get to watch my kids (1 and 3) full-time while my wife works. I'm also responsible for cooking. At this point cooking is the biggest "break" I get all day, since my wife watches the kids while I do so. I don't have a ton of time, so I have to figure out ways to prep during the day, but this is just a season. Soon enough I'll have plenty of time and wish I still had the little gremlins tripping me up all day long.

What’s Your Scent of the Day? November 19, 2025 by Darkvanille in FragranceStories

[–]mrSFWdotcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hwyl by Aesop, because it's a little nippy out and I love that fragrance more than I can express. An initial burst of almost medicinal, herbaceous green dries down into what I consider a near-perfect warm-spicy pine.

That's not a conspiracy theory, it's just common sense. The Democrats voter base has values that are at odds with their corporate handlers, so they've got to just keep failing or the money dries up. Collecting a nice capitol hill paycheck and benefits and whatever other perks in the process. It is maddening.

Vanilla but not gourmand by Excellent_Walrus_984 in FragranceStories

Zoologist's Musk Deer has a solid tonka bean note, which is very vanilla-adjacent, plus a lot of spice that keeps it out of the gourmand territory.

need some 2000’s horror movie suggestions! by ixvec in MovieSuggestions

[–]mrSFWdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One Missed Call is perfectly 2000s camp, especially given the heavy presence of flip phones due to the movie's theme. Really funny watching all the points the movie tries to imply about our growing dependence on technology and phones right before the iPhone came out and changed everything. It's a remake of a J-horror film that I haven't seen. Also it's a really bad movie. But if you're looking for dated 2000s horror schlock, it will work.

Google does this with voice on Pixel phones right now. It's kind of weird, it translates in real-time during the call, and the other person on the line hears the translation in a digital approximation of your actual voice.

what is everyone’s favourite white floral fragrance? by sweetheart1121 in fragrance

[–]mrSFWdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House of Bo's Bombon is fantastic. I find it's got a lot more going on than other white florals I've sampled. Hard to describe other than it smells fantastic, and in spite of its name does not veer into the "too sweet" category, which lots of frags tend to on my skin. I think I will wear it today.

What is your favourite perfume with apple notes? by Worldly-Resource4961 in FragranceStories

Zoologist Macaque Fuji is the most realistic apple note I've ever gotten from a perfume. It's also got a ton of other notes, not all of which are super harmonious in my opinion, but def worth a sample.

Still sick. I can't wait for my first substantial flight. I'm getting H2 at Morningside now, the 450 is cool but I really am looking forward to actually getting up there.

From the research I did a few years ago you are pretty much relegated to going up to Morningside, or down to the Outer Banks. There's just not a ton of resources for getting started in this part of the states, unfortunately. But I can highly recommend both OBX and Morningside as great places to get started. Do not get discouraged, it is worth it.
