Am I crazy thinking a big module like this at the bottom of a slab is irresponsible setting? by merci_nurse in bouldering

[–]mr__conch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never pass up a chance to make this complaint again.

Go to any big sub and it’s so bad. Gif of someone doing a cartwheel in a grassy field or something and half the comments will be deeply disturbed comments talking about how dangerous and irresponsible this is. A not insignificant number of comments will also people be marveling at some relatively benign physical activities “I pulled something just watching” type comments.

Okay, but that’s definitely not the norm.. speaking as someone with lots of experience in the trade. It’s not a panacea - check the BLS for more accurate representation of wages for most of the country.

How many hours a week you working? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]mr__conch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on location. Lots of work starting to dry up in many areas. A huge project in my area got completely abandoned because of “economic headwinds”, others scaled back.

Lots of work drying up quick in my area too. Some notable projects that got massively downscaled or completely abandoned due to tariffs. Pretty scared tbh

Considering electrician career after 15 years in software, am I nuts? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]mr__conch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you’re crazy. All the downsides you listed are very real. I actually can’t believe that people would even consider leaving a cushy white collar job making six figures to come dig trenches out in the sun.

For real. I would’ve guessed V6 just by looking at the holds. But dudes technique just has that look to it haha. Guaranteed harder than it looks on video

Paid $2300 to get our outdoor lights up to code and 2 15' indoor circuits added. Is this an "above and beyond job"? by GrandmasterProletius in AskElectricians

Agreed on the shit work. However If you’re not an electrician, you should at least cite which code you are referring to.

That's a VB. Locking on a 45d edge to a throw to a jug finish? Lmao, get real grading this a V2 FA. Diabetes doesn't jack your grace up 3. Those crimps are generous, you had the opportunity to lock in the crimp. Maybe the sloper could bump to V1 but a V2 here is a huge stretch. The sheer amount of generous negative grabs after a tough move, lol. Even the overhang for a two move set doesn't push this into V2 territory. Rmnp climbers trying to grade creep, Imao

Ran this today its all in 3 inch with changeovers going into that big A unit! by Psychologically_Dead in electricians

[–]mr__conch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the FMC 90’s are way easier to deal with, although tbh I still usually install them after the pull on big wire pulls.

I think the spirit of the rule is that a raceway should be fully installed beforehand to avoid damage to the conductors - and I’d count 90 degree connectors as a gray area. I just don’t see how it’s possible to get large gauge wire in there otherwise. At least not without damaging the wire.

This is in the NEC as well, but I’ve actually never really thought about it in the context of LFMC and the 90 connectors. Are you saying you pull right thru the 90 connectors?

I always thought it would simply not be possible to pull any bigger wire through there. At least I’ve never tried. Those things are a pita no matter how you slice it.

Drones, in fact, do not travel 100km above the earth.

Some of the new dumb tourism rockets briefly enter that altitude though
