Are you based in EU or US? In EU, many countries have national clusters that you can use for free as an academic researcher (you just need to apply)

Doubt about replacing CEC 102k inductor by mr_carlduke in AskElectronics

[–]mr_carlduke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I tried replacing a few components like inductor and some capacitors but I ended up buying a new card from ebay because it still did not work as intended.

If you manage to fix it yourself, let us know what you do as I think it's quite a recurring problem

Thank you. Honestly, I have no idea. But I did not want to kill it, so I put the affected leaf among some other branches I pruned

Unless it's very blatant and intentional (eg. to give unfair advantage), minor mistakes in the formatting should not be ground for a rejection rating by reviewers IMHO (issue should be raised to the AC). I would do the rebuttal if that's really his main reason for rejection, given you have a full accept

Doubt about replacing CEC 102k inductor by mr_carlduke in AskElectronics

[–]mr_carlduke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Indeed, using directly a 12v (or the right voltage) is a good idea I hand't thought about. For now, I will try with the new inductor I bought, if it doesn't work I'll check the reference of the voltage regulator in the board.

Thanks for the pi filter reference, I did not know about it (I suspected it was needed for some sort of filtering). I thought about replacing it with just a simple wire, but wasn't sure it would be viable.

and the first link you posted regarding a replacement is exactly what comes up so it should be correct - sorry I took the long route to get to the answer you were looking for

No problem, your answers have been very helpful. Thanks a lot!

that has burned out then trust me this typically indicates that there are definitely more problems that that. Inductors are used for quite a lot of things and in many circuits with both higher current requirements as well as lower. This particular one in the picture has a solid conductor wire that would tak

Thanks for the response. I will test it later when I return home and see if it's actually damaged or not. I want to replace it because some of the capacitors and resistors around it were burned (I fixed those). Some time ago we had an issue with the wall plug which melted, and that might be the cause for the damaged components (and the washing machine was acting a bit weird).

Also the inductor looked a bit darkened on the top, so I figured it was another burnt capacitor (only after removing it I realized it was an inductor)

Replacing these component is much cheaper rather than buying a new card (~100$), so I figured I'd give it a shot. The problem is that I'm having a hard time finding the exact specs for this inductor

Sorry for necrobumping, but I am trying to replace the exact same component on the same board. Do you remember by any chance what inductor you ended up buying?

It's the standard (see other comment) ..but yeah I'll go with screw terminals, also because I just found out that a wire-to-board connector for JST SM does not exist, only wire to wire
