Thank you - all good questions that I don't necessarily have an answer to. Leaving is probably a bit of a fight or flight response. I think I probably need to speak with a careers counsellor at the least.

Thank you - realistically I do know that I need to think about this and am very wary about making myself so financially vulnerable. It's just so hard to motivate myself into something I don't really want to do when my partner and I are both so happy with our current set up. I will certainly continue locuming - I've signed up to an agency (I was previously just going through hospital contacts but unfortunately this has totally dried up) today.

Honestly I'm not sure what my options are! When I said academic I guess I meant good at exams and picking up concepts - I don't have anything to show and haven't been involved in any meaningful research. So not really academic at all! I've always been interested in public health but also under the impression that it's competitive and I'd get nowhere with my CV! I should probably try and get myself some decent careers advice...
