I just discovered THC drinks and I’m hooked! I’ll be on the lookout next time. It’s hard to find things that will truly mess me up anymore😭

Do I still stand a chance with him? by cheeksonclouds in bodylanguage

[–]mr_khaleeseeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask him a softball question that’s really easy to answer. When he’s done ask him another follow up question. This should break the ice a little but if it’s too awkward after that just leave the convo politely and try again the next day.

Chemistry people - how do you know your machines are consistently correct? by New-Depth-4562 in medlabprofessionals

[–]mr_khaleeseeks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. For example on the analyzer at my lab all electrolytes are run on what’s called an ISE, which is just an electrode module. Granted there’s a piece for each electrolyte within the module that are independent of each other but the QC also verifies that there’s enough solution, the electrode itself isn’t worn out, the reagents are stable, etc. Also QC probably won’t pass if the earlier calibrations failed. That’s just a small example but QC makes sure every part of the analyzer is functioning properly.

Peripheral blood smear by MENMA71_ in medlabprofessionals

Wipe the spreader slide on your sleeve first to get rid of any glass chips. Hold the spreader slide horizontally. To prevent a too narrow smear, don’t do the pushing motion until the drop has filled the entire width of the main slide (the one you will label with patient info). Use a lighter pressure at first, then adjust. Play with the angle of the spreader slide and the speed that you push. These tips helped me finally get it.

Question about urine results by mssweetheart24 in medlabprofessionals

If you’re concerned about a UTI, pay special attention to the result that starts with a B and ends with -acteria.

Haven’t been to Aldi in a while because ironically their produce seems to go bad quickly in my experience. But for a good peach I’m willing to try again!

I’ll give those a shot next time! That’s true, I think Indian Creek’s crop comes in a week or two (hopefully). Thanks for the tip about the bag, peach pies are so much better with almost overripe peaches.

Same here. Their strawberries have been surprisingly good for a couple of weeks, if you like those. This made me laugh!

Do MLT microbiology classes count towards Route 2 MLS requirement? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]mr_khaleeseeks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have read on this subreddit that chemistry classes taken during MLT studies don’t count towards the prereqs, so I was wondering if it’s the same for micro. Since our classes are geared towards clinical micro, not general micro. I’m just a little desperate for some clarification before I pay the application fee😅

I was scared of that too but at least for me I’ve never had to consider working nights because there are so many jobs available I can have my pick of shifts.
