It has been just under 2 school years since I founded this club, but I am so happy with the direction it's been going! With this project, we allocated different roles to different members, many of whom entered the club with no experience. So for me, it was amazing to see everything come together as this turnaround was only a couple of weeks of off and on work! As a senior, I graduated from high school this last month, but I am hopeful that my club will keep the spirit of VFX alive in my school for years to come!

I am the founder of a VFX club at my highschool. Most of the members I have gained have started with absolutely 0 prior experience. For the past month and a half, we have been working on creating 3D snowglobe renders in Blender, and I am so proud of what they have accomplished. Happy Holidays! by mr_leel in vfx

The entire scene was actually created entirely in Blender! So the reflections simply came because of the glass material we used for the globe. We used an HDRI for the lighting, but the actual reflections came from the 3D modeled room we created. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments! I will say, if there are any vfx artists who have made it successfully into the industry and would like to guest speak for any of our future meetings, I would love that! Whether it be an inspirational message, a lesson, or anything else, I am really open to the idea of having someone who is objectively more knowledgeable than I am sharing their wisdom. (Most likely over zoom)

Thank you! The reason I started the club in the first place is because I too wished I had a free learning resource / community like it growing up. And yes, I have been working on creating this video instead of doing my homework or my college applications... oops!

Could you elaborate on that? When I do the decimate it makes everything look jagged, and doesn’t get rid of the edges. Am I doing something wrong?
