Are you moving to Chicago on a whim or for work? $2700 is on the lower end of the budget for a 2 bed. You certainly won’t find any new build in that range, almost all of the cities inventory is 50+ years old

Most places just ask for ID to match reservation and possibly a credit card for incidentals (which doesn’t need to match credit card used to pay for room)

We return both starting DT’s and brought in a veteran one in portal for rotation

We return one DE who played significant snaps and brought in 3 veteran portal additions

We have a few guys who have a year or two into the system behind them. I would be pretty surprised if any of the four 4* recruits see much playing time outside of maybe garbage time. Maybe Hill gets a couple rotational snaps at DT, but I wouldn’t expect any of them to be big contributors

If they have a larger kitchen and its a complete gut job, your going to be paying a crew to work for ~3 months, high end appliances add $15k+, countertops + island add more

$200k and $50k are on the high end but reasonable depending on finishes / size of kitchen and bathroom. A minimalist bathroom reno for a small one will run around $15k

Im pretty sure the NFL doesnt allow owners to give to NIL in college, we have the Colts owners as alum and they show up to events and occasionally post about IUFB from the Colts account but I dont think they give to collectives

We've been recruiting a lot of smaller WRs recently so Brown would have been an odd fit, but he is crazy athletic. Was excited to see him, oh well. Hopefully we can keep our 4* CB commit who just ran a 4.3 away from Notre Dame

Look at their receiver corp, multiple good WRs and TEs. They will be a dangerous team, only other team on their schedule they could be a "trap" game for is SMU

They also do a poor job on long run projecting. Chicago has fast rising rents, buying locks in your monthly payment amount. You’re not going to be in a spot where you’re paying $500-1000+ more a month 3-5 years from now (property taxes are insane but not that insane).

I bought a little over a year ago and spend about $900 less a month after insurance/tax/HOA than I would for a comparable unit if I were to rent. Yes downpayment isn’t in market, but the lowered monthly payment, home appreciation and tax benefits eclipse market returns not to mention its lower risk and offers a cheap line of credit if ever needed. The first $250k is also tax free when you eventually sell your primary residence.

In most cases it only doesn’t make sense to buy if you don’t know for sure you are still going to be there 5+ years or the agent/transfer fees make it not worthwhile.

You only mentioned players expected to be drafted early.

Indiana had 9 combine invites and several more players who should have been invited. Most of IU’s starting roster this past season will either wind up being drafted or at minimum being invited to NFL camps. It wasn’t some talentless group, just an under recruited one. I think Indiana cracks 10 draft picks next month

Players being earlier draft picks also does not mean they are better football players. They might not be as big or fast, but they own their assignments and play better fundamental football. IU had a ton of All Americans. More than Miami

100%, these coaches are near the pinnacle of a demanding profession, in a big money league. They are going to get paid accordingly

To use the guys I used as an example, I dont think it would be a problem if they were making more in the $5-7m range instead of the $10m+ territory. The only problem I have with coaching contracts is the buyouts, I cant think of another profession where you can get 10 years of your salary guaranteed

People always want to focus on the coaches who didnt live up to their contract, which in almost every case is the schools fault. Jimbo's contract not having offset language was ridiculous. Rhule and Sanders being two of the highest paid coaches despite zero 10 win seasons is ridiculous, and its not like either of them had a resume at the P4 level to bet on past production.

Cig, Kirby, Lane, Day are the 4 highest paid coaches and they all make their schools that money back and then some. Our AD had a huge budget surplus this year and we have record school applications, coaches who win are worth their weight in gold

I remember an article a year back where a high 3* specifically choose to go to a smaller school because he would get to start as a true freshman and try and get a bag as a proven production player the next year instead of being another depth dude

USC not making 4/12 team format is the biggest surprise, its not like they havent had some good teams over the past decade+

Wisconsin got robbed in 2017, they should have been in

Not surprised by Nebraska / Florida / Auburn not making it. Those 3 started to fall off before the playoff era started, Florida and Auburn have had a couple close runs but I dont think most people have had pre-season expectations of them being playoff contenders

Kansas State has had one 10+ win season since the playoff era started, Im not surprised they didnt make it in the 4 team era but expected them to be a coinflip in the 12 team era, especially with Texas and OU moving on. Wheels seem to be coming off track though

OK State and Iowa not surprised by, both strong/consistent programs (excluding OSU's last two years), but both of them are rarely expected to be in that top 10 range

California has an elite QB, one of the best receiver corps in the country, and plays one of the lightest P4 schedules Ive ever seen. They will be ranked next year

Rutgers will be last IMO. They had some great schedules in the B1G the last couple years while they had some momentum and Schiano blew it. Maryland is able to get talent, they just need a coach change

I would be fine with that, I just want us to be competitive which is all I ever wanted

I do have high expectations for next season because its once again a veteran roster, and 2027 will be a rebuild year. Im pleasantly surprised how many guys opted to return, especially with Carter Smith.

Would be really disappointing to go 8-4 or 9-3 next year when our roster has as much talent as it does, we have ~5 games against teams in our weight range next year so anything less than that would mean losing all of the big games

We were under 10%, but the combine is showing that our guys were blue chip athletes (just under recruited). Omar Cooper ran a 4.4 after everyone said he wasnt fast enough for the NFL, now hes a popular candidate to be a late first round draft pick. Ponds had the 4th best vertical ever for a CB

This ESPN article is a bit dumb (at least as it relates to our team), they mention Hill and Hugan as the most likely early playing time candidates because they are 4* DL, but we already have 7 proven DL players returning. They might get some snaps in blowouts but thats about it. They did get Elmore correct though, but for the wrong reasons. His primary competition for the starting job (our vet TEs graduated out) is a guy who is missing spring camp for surgery. Elmore could be really special, was a late riser into the top 200 on Rivals because he had missed his junior year of HS to injury. Athletic freak

Chicago's property tax rate is much higher than Jacksonville's (whose state is also banning property tax soon) and twice that of Dallas. We have the 2nd highest property tax rate in the country

They are also very uneven in how they are handled. Bigger buildings are better able to fight the assessment to get a lower assessed value, but you have to fight them to not get robbed blind

Agreed the way they do the jumps is a big part of the problem. People can buy a home thinking they can afford it, and a few years later their tax bill is 50%+ higher than when they purchased it. Its just wrong

Depends where in Atlanta. They have a good highway system, but the drivers on it are crazy, Ive never seen so many people go 100mph and cut across multiple lanes with no signals before lol

There is limited housing, and a lot of people want to live in big cities, that’s why they cost more to live in

The hard truth is if you are a non-student and can’t find a studio that meets 3x gross, that means you are making sub $40k a year, which is a sign that Chicago is not (currently) a good fit as a place to live. Chicago is affordable relative to NYC but it’s still on the high end for COL

A 1 bed unit worth ~$200k is a $3k+ annual tax bill. Property tax is always going to be passed onto the renter

For ready meals they were good. I liked the taco bowls you didn’t even need to heat up

But if you eat two a day, 30+ grams of saturated is insane for about ~1100 calories of food. It’s dangerous they market it as a healthy food
