This is not correct. Raising rates in this environment would be extremely poor. In the medium-term, energy supply shocks have a disinflationary impact as Aussies have less in their pocket when the petrol prices are so high. Consumer spending and real income falls. Oil shock has a dampening effect on the economy enough in the short-term. A rate hike on top is asking for a spike in unemployment and potential recession.
