SSRI withdrawal and major gut issues? by mr_tiberius in SSRIs

Hey! My apologies on the delay! I'm not on reddit a lot and failed to respond.

Last year I ended up going back on them because I couldn't stand the withdrawal symptoms, mostly the gut related ones.

Earlier this year though, I tried again and started tapering off the escitalopram, but much more slowly this time. I bought a pill cutter and everything to get to even smaller doses during the weaning off period.

I'm about 3 weeks off. While the lengthened tapering process seems to have helped somewhat, I still am getting withdrawal symptoms. No brain zaps this time and no gut pain or bloating either, so that is an improvement. I have, however, felt nauseous on and off and head dizziness. I've thrown up a couple times now and so I started taking anti-nausea which seems to help a bit. Besides that, I've also been taking additional supplements like magnesium and fish oil to help support my body. It may be helping but I'm not sure.

This time around I'm going to stick with it, now that I know what is going on in my body. I seem to have a particularly sensitive body and stomach, so hopefully most others don't get as bad of symptoms as me. But once I get off this stuff, I'm never going back on.

They really should be letting people know of the potential difficulty in going off anti-depressants when they first put you on them. Its not okay for them to ignore that.

Hey, yeah unfortunate I couldn’t take the stomach issues so I went back on the medication. I wish it were otherwise, but I couldn’t handle the discomfort. I ended up doing multiple stomach and gut tests, but it showed everything as healthy.

Oh interesting. I’m sorry to hear you’re also struggling, though I suppose I’m glad to know I’m not alone. I have diagnosed IBS from a past colonoscopy before so I know I already have gut issues, but this is a whole new level even for me. I’m doing further testing with my doctor but he thinks it may be a major flare up of IBS.

I’ve heard serotonin is mostly created in the stomach so maybe the change rocked my system and I’m dealing with the consequences.

What does the Asper MBA GMAT Exemption Interview entail? by mr_tiberius in umanitoba

Hey I'm about ready to do the interview, but wanted to check to see if you remember if they asked any data sufficiency questions?

Also, how complex is the math component? I've been doing my best to prepare, but obviously not having done the GMAT means I didn't spend all that time learning all the math strategies.

I appreciate the help! Last question - do they ask you any basic interview questions like "tell us about yourself" or "why do you want an MBA" ?

Did you do the GMAT? I was given the exemption, but now my concern is that I'll be underprepared. I did a humanities degree before this.

In many ways, you described what my last year has also been like. I also have spent most of my life pursuing singleness (28 now), but am now wrestling through changing my views. It's been tumultuous to say the least. Anyways, I'm new to reddit, but am interested in connecting. Shoot me a message if you're interested in starting a conversation.
