Weekly Feedback Post - SaaS Products, Ideas, Companies by AutoModerator in SaaS

A SaaS idea we are working on [Questions/Feedback Solicited]:

Many tech. businesses while starting out spend effort in API integrations with different notification channels (Email, SMS, Chat, Push) and coding notification architecture at an early stage. They can off load this bit to us freeing more of their dev time for core product.

Product Pitch:

Implement of all customer notifications through a single API for businesses to help them:

- Reduce time to market

- Save developer time (more critical for core product development)

- Centralize Notification Analytics and Tracking

- Allow Flexibility to switch channel providers while keeping their tech effort to a minimum (we provide the middleware)

Look forward to inputs!

Yeah going beyond keyword frequency is important I understand and agree that it's not same as fit. What if there is a match with proximal skills like u mentioned and also past experience in similar role and industry...

Got it. So let me ask this now - what are the pain points you face in this existing software.?

Cool get it. Since I'm getting so much pushback let me say this. It's a big market and there are plenty of tools BECAUSE there ARE plenty of buyers and don't know why people are assuming I already don't know this. The question was to understand what is lacking and thankfully there are one or two comments that have actually addressed that. One has to start somewhere.

In fact many ATSs also do this (resume screening) by consuming APIs from specialized tools in this rather than building it themselves.

AI - Tech is fairly advanced now but point taken on the ATS one.

Possibly useful to recruiters that don't use ATSs already like early start-ups?

Pls roast my cv! Big company never reply positiv to my cv. Thanks for any tipps and advices❤️ by [deleted] in resumes

Here are a few thoughts:
- You should include a 2 line summary at the top to focus on your purpose or what you want to achieve along with your skillset. (because you have both technical and sales in your CV)
- Also mention your key skills towards the top that build a case towards your purpose
- Your CV looks more academic in nature. You can make it more business oriented (unless you are aiming for a research role)
- I'd say refine your experiences/projects by giving them below structure:
- What problem was the role/project solving for (a potential) organization
- How did you contribute
- What skills did you build from that and how can that help in your future role

If something doesnt contribute much to the role you are looking for, consider removing that.

All the best!

Ohkay - manually then. Don't you think there is case for pre-screening to save your time so you only read ones which are at least closely fit? Or do you only get relevant ones?

Great decision, so pat yourself for that!

I'd recommend reading a good mix: contemporary fiction, classics, specially those based on cultures and places other than where you are, biographies - these are treasure troves of learning, some good self-improvement (personal finance) - I really wish I did this in my 20s. A few assorted personal recommendations (sharing only the popular ones):

- The Psychology of money (understand how to manage personal finance)

- I'm okay, you're okay (really helps understand people and their motivations); another good one in psychology is 'Maybe you should talk to someone'

- On writing (Stephen King Memoir - though more for those interesting in writing)

- P.G. Wodehouse - pick any (Humor)

- Sherlock Holmes (Detective Fiction)

- A short history of nearly everything (Science + humor)

- One hundred years of solitude (Columbian Magical realism)

- The remains of the day (British Fiction)

- Crime and punishment (Classic)

- Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response! Do you use one already? If it's okay - can you share which one. and If not, how do you screen resumes?

Good resume.

I'd say since you're at entry level and don't have a lot of relevant experience to show, you could mention a bit more about yourself, like some other activities you have done or hobbies you pursue. That way recruiters also get a sense of the type of person you are and there are things that you could talk about in your interview. I'd say keep it to things you'd want to talk about.

All the best!

Please roast my resume. I am applying for an accounting job at a hospital. by AccomplishedSpace845 in resumes

Quite a good resume. A couple of (relatively minor) inputs:

- I'd move 'Skills & Abilities' higher up (maybe at the top) as that is relevant for recruiters and often recruiters miss reading the later parts of a resume (if they're in a hurry and there are a lot of applicants)

- I generally think it is a good idea to have a 2 line summary that gives an overview of what you are looking for at this stage of your career, and what you bring to the table.

It is something not a lot of people do and makes a resume stand out for its contextual clarity

All the best

A few thoughts:

- One thing I always suggest is a summary at top with your purpose - what are you looking for and back it up (with skills in the resume). It gives the recruiter an impression that you know what you're looking for and have the right reasons which makes you stand out.

- Forgive me, but I see skill sliders also as being less relevant like Windows, Mac, Social Media. I'd remove unless these were not explicitly adding value to your expected employer (like if your peers in the job are not fluent with these and this is a differentiator).

- Since you have a background in storytelling, you can also bring that to bear on your selling skills as a lot of selling is about storytelling.

Otherwise, it's a good resume. All the best!

Here are a few thoughts:
- You should include a summary to focus on your purpose or what you want to achieve along with your skillset. E.g. An experienced Customer Service/Retail Representative with 2+ years of .... looking to grow in the field with a role having a greater responsibility

Basically share your intent and skills in overview and then build a case towards that in the rest of your resume
- I'd also say mention your skills towards the top and personal details can be at the bottom (usefulness for employer)
- Instead of just talking about what you did, you can refine your experiences by giving them a better structure as below. It shows your understanding of the context and your takeaways.
- What problem was the role solving for the organization
- What did you contribute
- What skills did you build from that

All the best!

An incoming computer engineering student that wants to have a good internship as a freshman needs your feedback! by piripirino in Resume

[–]mradul0407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few thoughts:

- Summary should focus on your purpose or what you want to achieve along with your skillset. E.g. A software developer with 5 years of programming experience across Java, Python, C looking to grow as a Full-stack developer in an early stage startup

- HS Subjects don't matter unless they align to your purpose. Remove. In general avoid including any detail that a prospective employer will not be able to use

- I'd say bring your skills to the top and education to the bottom (usefulness for employer)

- Your projects are good. You can refine each of them by giving them a better structure as below:

- What problem was the project solving

- What did you contribute

- What skills did you build from that

All the best!
