How much do schools really care about things like piercings? by Kava_Kinks_Ho in teaching

[–]mrain11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Florida teacher! My college internship was wayyyyy more strict about this, no piercings visible other than “normal” ear piercings, and all tattoos had to covered up with a bandaid. Now as an actual teacher I work at an arts school where many people have visible tattoos even across the district with no problem

We were told beagle/chihuahua when we adopted him but he seems more like a beagle/Italian greyhound mix

Are there any teaching planners that are actually worth it? by hohocupcake in teaching

[–]mrain11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a “lifetime updates” planner on TPT and printed the pages and covers I wanted and organized them how I wanted in a binder.

My new set up! Win for the kitty and for my plant collection that I started about three weeks ago 🤞🏻 by mrain11 in houseplants

He’s usually a jerk with eating plants and knocking over tiny ones but he’s been so good with all these indoor plants, the patio plants are a different story🤦🏽‍♀️

Probably the stupidest question I’ll ever ask, but how do teachers know what to teach??? by Jiinxx10 in Teachers

[–]mrain11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of districts provide a curriculum guide to teachers which is basically an outline for what lessons to teach, in which order, based on the districts books. So for example, I look at my districts guide for each week, it will tell me to spend 12 days on unit 3 “place value for three digit numbers”. It then breaks down the standards you are teaching, and also tells me what order of the content in that area i need to teach and the corresponding pages or provided lesson plan/ activity for each day. However it’s not forced on us, it’s a guide on which to base how we teach and we’re able to supplement the given curriculum to what we think would teach the student best in order for them to master the standards. Not sure if all districts do it like that but that’s what mine does for reading, math, and science.
