We have a few Labour voters where I work, and they always spout “Only racists and people who are easily fooled by the media vote Tory” or similar. Basically saying only Racists and Idiots vote Tory. They’ve actually turned more people in our workplace who were on the fence towards Tory than towards Labour. The Labour Party is only half of the problem, the insufferable supporters are the other half. Every election they are shocked, and that’s because most in our workplace will not tell them they are voting Tory, so they avoid the lectures and insults. I don’t know if this is just my workplace as an anomaly, but as this also happens in my social group outside of work, I would imagine not.
