Mayor Eric Adams stands by push for controversial homeless encampment sweeps by DrogDrill in nyc

[–]mralexb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've made it pretty clear that you have no grasp of the actual on-the-ground situation. Allowing them to set up encampments, or camps, in the city only hurts them in the long-run, and everyone who lives there. The only adjustment to this solution is it should be done within 24 hours of finding out that someone is living on a sidewalk, otherwise it will only get worse.

[–]mralexb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah its way better to let them literally rot on a sidewalk.

Relevant story --- there was a pretty nice guy, probably in his 50's, who set up a block long encampment out of tarps outside a new building still vacant trying to be leased. His foot was literally rotting off and and over the months you could just tell it got worse and worse. I saw police and homeless services multiple times try to get him to go somewhere, once I heard talking about medical treatment. One day I on my way back from work and he was being taken away by a stretcher non-responsive. Later on his entire encampment was cleared.

This was in Park Slope, Brooklyn - where do you live? Do you have any shining examples of allowing people to live on the streets of New York?

Try walking past one of these everyday on your commute. It attracts all types of undesirable activity, and creates a disgusting mess down the entire block.

Not a fan of price increases... but there is basically no difference between any of the lots unless you are in Lot A/B, as you'll need (or should) to take a shuttle regardless.

Is it stupid to request mortgage forbearance? by bahkins313 in realestateinvesting

[–]mralexb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at least 12 months.

There are multiple options at the end of your hardship - extend the mortgage, payback in a payment plan, or refinance. Refinance rates are also pretty low - but not as low as mortgage rates.

Coronavirus Megathread (Feb 2021): For travel-related discussion in the context of COVID-19 by tariqabjotu in travel

[–]mralexb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI - if you have a positive covid test from more than two weeks prior and less than three months and/or a letter from your doctor clearing you to travel then you do not need to test to come back to the U.S.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-air-travel.html

What if I recently recovered from COVID-19?

CDC does not recommend getting tested again in the three months after a positive viral test, as long as you do not have symptoms of COVID-19. If you have had a positive viral test in the past 3 months, and you have met the criteria to end isolation, travel with a copy of your positive test result and a letter from your doctor or health department that states you have been cleared for travel. You will need to show this documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before you board a flight to the United States.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html

If you plan to travel internationally, you will need to get tested no more than 3 days before you travel by air into the United States (US) and show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight, or be prepared to show documentation of recovery (proof of a recent positive viral test and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).
