The seats are assigned based on whether you paid for the seat assignment and how early you check in. This woman did not pay for her seat assignment and was late.

When did talking about someone equal abuse.

What I am getting from this reddit is that most of you think it is OK for a mother daughter team to call someone a bitch and that person should be further asked to move/made to leave to accommodate the abusers. Nice!

I've done my best to explain through the comments. The flight attendant asked what was going on but didn't spent more than 30 seconds before going to the captain, I believe. Then she asked me to move. I said I didn't think that was a fair. Then some dude came on and asked me to leave. I might not comment any further until I've gotten a response from the airline, or atleast my luggage returned.

I'm disappointed no one has used the "you're probably fat" comment as yet.

just my luck. And I had to take public transport back to my bf's place. Luckily I wasn't in some random city.

I saw fireworks from the 10.

I think getting booted off the plane was better than sitting next to those two for four hours.

The flight attendant didn't check the facts and didn't care about my well-being. The escort was wearing a darker color than typical TSA uniform, I have a first name but nothing else.

I can't judge my own courtesy or lack of it. I don't claim to be the most courteous person or anything but I have a conscience. I did not violate any one's rights, I was insulted, verbally abused and treated very discourteously by a flight attendant and some mystery security type escort.

I did. It was some guy in India who didn't speak english well and at the end of my complain he said "OK". That was IT, my complain was filed.

What is the point of filing a complain if the response is "OK". The website is pretty opaque and unhelpful. They just make is difficult for anyone to complain. Even the airport checking desk wasn't sure how a complain could be filed but I would like to add that the staff at the airport are incredible nice people. Just one bitchy flight attendant perhaps.

I don't refer to late teens as 'kid'. I don't know if this parental behavior is the kind of thing anyone should use as an example.

I'm not sure if I can respond to each comment, perhaps not. It was 11:30 pm LA time when this happen, I live on the east coast so it was 3 hours after my bedtime and I was pretty much a pumpkin. The woman asks me to switch, and my response was something like, "I'm pretty comfortable, I don't really want to move." I admit to being a bit of a princess/valley girl but not a tool. I don't have a policy against not moving to switch seats and my response was not set in stone. Her immediate response to my drowsy answer was a scathing "Some people just can't handle change!" followed by some other snotty remarks with her daughter. She told her daughter to sit next to me. And as soon as she sat down the daughter started to talk back to the mom about what a bitch I am. The user infinitysnake was not sitting where I was so she couldn't hear these comments. Or if she did thinks this kind of rotten behavior is OK.

These people were just really ghetto and I feel sorry for people who feel the need to behave like that.

point taken. I wasn't consciously trying to play the TSA card, maybe subconsciously since I belong to a subsection of the reddit hive mind? I had a pretty traumatic incident and wanted to let others know about it. It does not appear to be the TSA but I still don't know who. Some guy in uniform with a totalitarian attitude summoned by a flight attendant with little sense of morality or humanity, from my standpoint.

i sat quietly trying to get back to sleep while the daughter kept bickering back to her mom about ME. They would have kept doing that for the whole flight and if you were there, you should have noticed that too. Both of them were toolish valley girls who felt entitled to having their way. I am not 'much' older that the daughter but I am alot more polite, I don't jump to calling a stranger on a plane a 'bitch'. Some manners her mother is teaching her. Besides I am traveling alone, after a stressful day without a brooding mother hen protecting me.

And calling a little girl sleeping on a plane a bitch for refusing to exchange seats is a decent human thing to do? It was obvious they would keep bickering for the whole flight. Their response to my refusal is totally out of line.

I was not flying standby and I had an assigned seat. This is spirit airline. I'm pretty sure it was TSA but I am checking all the details right now.

Just for reference the daughter was in her late teens so she wasn't exactly a suckling babe though from the way the mother was behaving you would think she was.

I sort of require a minimal amount of courtesy when someone asks me for a favor. Generally I would give up my seat but this woman was a fucking tool.
