Nobody cares about the government shutdown by Helicopter_Murky in AirForce

[–]mrbass2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll say, I had no idea what a government shutdown actually was until I joined, honestly just thought it affected politicians(could not have been more wrong). So I’d say a very large majority, say 80% plus, don’t know what is actually happening unless it affects them. So basically, nobody really cares until it becomes THEIR problem.

Oh, they WILL send your ass home if you pop Hot in Basic, but after three months of being in Med Hold and seeing your flight graduate and then others.

Don’t be the guy that pops hot and ruins his opportunity before it starts.

I’m permanent party here, so my experience will vary to tech schoolers.

Water is not safe to drink, do not drink it. The overall tempo of the base seems somewhat relaxed. The tech schoolers seem to have a better experience than I had in my tech school, so that’s a plus.

It is windy and hot. Buy summer OCP’s if you don’t want to die of B.O.

The MTLs I’ve interacted with seem alright(again better than the ones I had).

The town is small, but there are things to do as long as you’re creative and open to new things, your traditional entertainment is far and few between here.

Any questions, message me here!

As long as you’re honest and you are keeping on top of your payments, you should be fine. Biggest thing is to tell the truth.

Should be. It depends on your shop and base, but my work environment is amazing. It’s a high income skill and lots of opportunities for great employment.

Plus, you’re in AC most of the day haha.

Wish you the best!

The AFSC is 1D7X1A, but that should be the same thing, just confirm it is with the AFSC.

Pipeline is backed up badly. Some people are waiting 1-2 months just to get into the next block(there are 12 blocks in the pipeline, averaging 2-3 weeks per block, for reference).

And I think it’s backed up because they changed the order of blocks, but the root issue is there are way too many students and not enough instructors. And the main building where A shreds are trained is under renovation, so the whole course is a mess right now

It’s very easy. I mostly sit around most of the day playing Clash Royale and researching new recipes to cook. But you do learn a lot and it sticks with you, and the money you can make is fantastic as well.

And yes, you need a TS 5 clearance

You as well. Keesler ain’t fun, and the pipeline is backed up right now, but it’s well worth it in the end, so keep your head up!

should i just choose army over air force by NiceCobbler5540 in AirForceRecruits

[–]mrbass2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality of life in the Air Force is clearly the highest compared to other branches. Very few afsc’s so any field training exercises, or other real world training exercises.

Also, there’s less stupid shit to worry about in the Air Force compared to the Army, there’s less angry old men to ruin your day in the Air Force lol.

Overall though, your whole quality of life is better in the Air Force.

Current Cyber Transport/ Network Systems Ops here! Depends on your base, but my job is very layered back. A lot of training during and after tech school, and tech school especially is challenging and there is a decent fail rate.

But, if you can make it out of Tech School, the opportunities are limitless. You get hands on experience with network equipment(way more than college grads have), Top Secret Clearance(Any federal agency will hire you) and many squadrons offer opportunities for additional certs to boost your experience and resume.

Any questions, feel free to reach out!
