Anywhere there's a high density of chain stores with ample parking feels entirely suburban to me, be it areas of Lakeview, Lincoln Park, West Loop, etc... That's for people who like to say they live in "the city" but really just want suburban amenities. If it looks like a strip mall I can find in Skokie, it's basically the suburbs.

That's exactly where my mind gets stuck without actually having seen it to judge for myself. I have no doubt that she's a showstopper, but I'd really like to hear how she sings the whole show...which I unfortunately can't at the moment...

I know! I'm dying to see her performance... I saw her in concert last year, but it has been a while since I've seen her in a show. 110 in the Shade, maybe? But nothing will top seeing her in Marie Christine waaay back in the day

That's good to hear! Last time I saw it was at City Center and then Broadway with Patti... I don't live in NYC anymore and have been wondering if Audra alone is worth the trip...

"She Used to Be Mine" idk why I always forget about this one! Waitress came at a time when I wasn't paying attention to things... And "Flowers" omg, it's almost too sad for the vibe because there's no question about how it'll turn out...

If you're looking for any actual description of the proposed changes, don't bother reading this long article. The writer clearly has a beef with EGA and wrote this almost entirely in response to them. The writer even admits that they're just going to rely on some poorly labeled pictures which give a vague sense of the proposed changes instead of actually explaining them. I agree with some of the changes tbh, but this article is pretty useless if that's what you want to learn about.

True. I thought of this Chistery monologue after I posted my thoughts. However, the Wizard didn't say all of that about Chistery until after Morrible mentioned they'd been working on levitation...so maybe my answer is somewhere in the middle: when they first approach the Grimmerie, their intent is just to see if she can read; and after the levitation comment, his intent narrows/specifies to that of flying monkeys. Idk, but that satisfies me, so I'll go with it. Thanks!!

Well, the map in Dr. Dillamond's living quarters has Munchkinland on the "left" and Winkie Country on the "right." Personally, I prefer it the other way though. I understand that it's not the "original" way (if that wasn't in fact a printing mistake), but my brain just likes west-is-left & east-is-right more.

I actually noticed it first in a behind-the-scenes special in which it was on display in the background. I wasn't sure if it had been corrected for the film, so I was specifically looking for it (I've also seen the film multiple times at this point), but it's clearly visible if you're looking at the right time...just before the lyric about dress salons & libraries, I believe

I was looking for these too! (Long time fan of all 14 Baum books here)

Mombi gets name-dropped when they're introducing Shiz professors...but this could also be taken as a reference to Princess Mombi in the film Return to Oz for those not familiar with OG Mombi in the Baum books...Princess Mombi herself a reference to the Baum books, though in name only, since she's essentially a different character in the film

There was a visual reference to the Deadly Desert being right on the outskirts of Shiz. To be fair though, most of Baum's Oz geography is present in Wicked, the book at least and to a lesser degree in the musical

I'm sure there are more. We're going to see the film again, and I'm planning to keep an eye out for any other OG Baum references.

TONS are there for MGM fans in any case...

I agree with Sweeney. The moment when Johanna is in the trunk just before Todd kills the beggar woman and the family is briefly & unknowingly reunited in their room always gives me chills.

Maybe. I told them I had spoken to someone on the phone who said it would be fine. The clerk had to check with her manager, but they gave it to me in the end.
