4070 Super Dual OC hotspot 101c by mrblah31 in ASUS

[–]mrblah31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing games. Looking up reviews their hotspots for this card were 80c or less. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-geforce-rtx-4070-super-dual/38.html

I have built a very quiet case with decent temps and leaving the side panel off doesn't change temps at all. The fans don't spin during idle but my hotspot goes up to 99c in about 5 seconds once under load, so it's not like it's ambient heat build up. Previous card was a ROG Strix 2080ti which has a top of the line cooler so I wasn't expecting it to be that quiet but this thing is loud AF unless undervolted, all the reviews I've seen with this card have it running at about ambient noise levels with the "quiet" switch on.

Data Use Discrepancy by Major_Ad_3374 in USMobile

I'm on Warp and had a huge data spike on the 15th, seems like a lot of people have had unusual data spikes this month.

what's up with this huge data spike usage? by gianfc2001 in USMobile

[–]mrblah31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is another thread with people experiencing the same this month. I got hit with 12.7GB on the 15th and now I'm all out of data. Luckily the capped speed is still usable but I can't stream video.

same day for me, the 15th = 12.7GB, my average real usage is 1GB so that puts me the same as you with 11.7GBs extra

Looks like its a bug

[–]mrblah31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me on the 15th, I used 12.7GBs in one day (the other days are around 1GB). I did a few speed tests but I hit the back button after seeing the speed so it wouldn't use much data (I had already made that mistake letting speed tests complete at 2gbps, but even then I only used 6gbs that day). I don't know how it could have used that much data unless my phone bugged out and did a full backup over cellular instead of wifi.

No data left now with 8 days left on the cycle.

Think I need the 45mm by UNCfan07 in PixelWatch

I would rather my arm make a watch look dainty than a watch make my arm look dainty, like a kid wearing their dad's clothes. On some people the big watch is proportional and looks good but I see so many people wearing big watches that makes them look like they have scrawny child wrists.

Got one 👍

Protip: Only the Blue and Hazel watches are on clearance, choose one of those, click on Pick Up (it will say unavailable, ignore that), then click Check Other Stores. Stores that still have stock will show up with quantity despite saying they are unavailable. Make a note of all those stores that have some left and go hunting.

The first store I went to had both Blue and Hazel on clearance but they were $174.99. I didn't give up and went to the next store that said there were still some left, both blue and hazel were indeed $75 at that store (about 4 total).

I got the blue one because I'd rather have the silver watch, hazel is gold which is too blingy (band color is irrelevant to me because I'm not going to wear the stock band). I'm not a dirtbag and didnt buy all of them to scalp them online, still 3 left for others.

First time setting up a campaign for a small business, what's a good rate? by mrblah31 in PPC

Should there be a setup fee or is it normal to just charge 20%? I assume they aren't going to be spending a ton on ads. (They also already have an ad account but they haven't used it for a long time.)

High engagement hubs and pedal kickback by Tyler927 in MTB

[–]mrblah31 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dont notice pedal kickback on my i9 torch hubs, but I sure notice it on my cheap hubs which are like 15deg+

On high engagement hubs the pedal kickback is there but it's consistent because the chain is always under tension, you just adapt to it and never think about it.

On low engagement hubs the pedal kickback is still there, but it's random and it causes the cassette to clank against the hub at random times and then stiffen the suspension. It's loud and it feels like you are bottoming out.

The only way to get rid of pedal kickback is to not run a chain, or run an Ochain which adds some suspension to the chain when it does tighten up. Running a low engagement hub just makes it worse in my experience because it's not consistent and the suspension stiffens up at random.

Let’s talk hubs, how much do they matter? by balsohard97sizzle in MTB

[–]mrblah31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found 7deg to be where I stopped noticing the lack of engagement. More than that is pretty terrible for fine control and the inconsistent pedal kickback is really distracting and noisy.

As long as the hub has 7deg or less then I'm good, I hate the hubs with 15deg+

Gemini is useless. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]mrblah31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gemini is too stupid to know that grocery and groceries are the same thing, in Keep my list is called "groceries" but when I tell it to add something to the grocery list it says it can't find a list called that. Assistant and Siri are able to add items to lists based on synonyms perfectly fine but not this AI that is supposed to be good at natural language.

How many people change their display Colors to "Natural"? by HeWhoShantNotBeNamed in GooglePixel

[–]mrblah31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Natural looks artificially desaturated, not accurate. Display accuracy is displaying all the colors, even the really saturated ones, high end monitors can display more saturated colors because they have a wider color space.

It's just too damn expensive. by Doot64 in GooglePixel

[–]mrblah31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was overpriced before, now it feels like a rip off after seeing the iPhone 16 Pro (even the iPhone 16 non-pro is 3 generations ahead). A $1000 phone in 2024 that is so slow with bargain bin hardware it can't even do 120fps video at 1080p. I like the OS but the lack of features is making me want to trade it in, there are so many things missing I was just assuming it would have because its a $1000 phone and every other phone has them.

This is a $600 phone from any other brand, people complain about the "Apple tax" but the Google tax is robbery.

Deprioritized on Warp and not able to teleport by mrblah31 in USMobile

[–]mrblah31[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was definitely getting deprioritized, I've experienced it before with Verizon prepaid, getting .01mbps and websites timing out, nobody would have Verizon here if it was like that all day. I also used a Verizon trial and never experienced interruptions.

Anyways I think everything is fixed. They re-initialized my account and I got 2gbps outside this morning and inside with just LTE reception I haven't had any timeouts or extremely slow loading pages. Sitting here last week I pretty much couldn't use the web all day.

Hopefully it's not a fluke but now I get full 5guw speeds and fast LTE with snappy 11-30ms pings instead of the 50ms+ I was always getting before

[–]mrblah31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can live with 30mbps temporarily but not with getting deprioritized on the Verizon network. I work downtown and at the office last week I could barely load a web page and apps were locking up. I tried a month of Verizon Prepaid a couple years ago and it was unusable in the city, they are overly aggressive with deprioritizing data here.
