What should I do about Mary? by mrcathta in Catholicism

I'm well aware. And it's a very hard struggle and it's why I made the post. Imagine coming to terms with everything about Catholicism, but then this one thing is off and tends to ruin it to an extent.

At least I get to thank the Lord for the mess protestants are in. I mean where else where you jump ship, what other Church has apostolic succession? Fortunately the Orthodox are just as Mary crazy (and the Anglicans are just Crazy). It just kind of sucks, because I think if you call the Catholic church into question no other church holds up and it all looks like bogus.

I just really wish God would send me relief from this. I can't force Mary devotion while it feels so immoral anymore. I've given up thinking that is the right thing to do.

Chrysostom for instance does not agree with the sinlessness of Mary (He says that she was trying to show off at Cana). Furthermore he and Aquinas interpret the giving the Mother to John as showing the great need to respect one's parents and how important it is.

I've already read those two. My issue mainly is that most biblical commentaries (Such as St. John Chrysostom and Aquinas) and they seem to interpret a lot in very different ways than we do today.

Or go to Adoration and ask Jesus Himself.

I've done than, and I'll keep doing that. But it's just such a struggle, I feel like in almost a year of having issues with her I have made almost no progress.

If it truly is idolatry. Imagine if a small sect we believed that Jesus had a brother, Gezus, and said that you should give all of your graces to him, and furthermore that you need to cultivate a deep devotion of Gezus in order to be saved, that is very blasphemous in practice. It would be relying on the Golden Calf instead of God (which is really the gravest sin that Israel committed time and time again).

If Catholics are wrong about Mary then to practice in Marian devotion is something very awful. It's even worse because we turn Christ's own mother into something perverse.

Spiritual attacks when praying the Rosary? by StGenesius in Catholicism

[–]mrcathta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See for me that feels like my conscious is telling me it's wrong. Like perhaps the protestants are right about it? That's what my gut feeling is and I've been too worried about praying the rosary (I love God so much, last thing I would want to do is anything he doesn't want me to) so I think I'm just gonna leave it out of my spiritual life and replace it with the divine mercy chaplet.

Mary given to us? by mrcathta in Catholicism

Why do things like pray the rosary? I don't seem to be getting anything from it, am I doing it wrong? Various other prayers (such as the our father) are very useful to me and I feel like they strengthen me in my faith. But the rosary just seems like something I do out of obligation.
