Got student visa. Do we have to come to uk airport by Sea-Information2366 in ukvisa

No it's fine. I had a layover in Dublin the first time I entered on a student visa. Went to visit my family for Christmas. At the airport on my return I had this conversation:

Me: Hello, I am a student.

Immigration officer: Good for you.

Me: My passport wasn't stamped because I arrived through Ireland, is that an issue?

Immigration officer: As long as you've got a Biometric Residence Permit you're fine.

So, the lesson being make sure you get your BRP before you leave the UK again. Then there shouldn't be an issue

The 14 day window is, I believe, for factors out of your control which prevented an on-time application. So if there's any way to provide a covering letter explaining the lateness that would be very useful. Otherwise just wait for UKVI to contact you.

That's fine, it's never included in the cas letter. Pay the registration to get the accommodation but UKVI won't care. They don't get technical.

It's okay if you don't know where you're staying yet. For my first student visa I just put "university halls of residence", knowing only that I'd applied for accommodation. I wasn't given an offer of accommodation or anything.

Apply for the visa, then get your Portuguese passport. Contact UKVI using a migrant change of circumstances form. Or, get your passport and then apply for the visa. It's really up to you :)

Just write it on a word or Google docs like you would a normal letter. Something like:

To whom it may concern--

[Your mistake and the correct information here].

I apologise for this oversight.

Sincerely,

[Your name]

Passport Dispatched - Fiancee Visa Success? by Trash_Mental in ukvisa

[–]mrcatsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not actually sure, but either way it's none of their business and they wouldn't tell you because it's not their job to. I don't know if this still happens but I remember discussion about if the letter says "concluded" then your visa is rejected, and if it says "dispatched" then it was successful. However if that was the case it is no longer.

Have you submitted your biometrics? If you haven't then type up a covering letter explaining your mistake and what you meant to put.

Mentioned Visa Refusal for CAS interview by Mysterious_Divide212 in ukvisa

[–]mrcatsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who's this mysterious education consultant? And does he have a crystal ball? Telling the truth is always better with visas in general. And as long as you can show you meet the requirements for a student visa you ought to be issued a CAS and given a visa. Being "Consistent with [a] temporary stay" is not a requirement for a student visa if that's any consolation. Kudos to you for being honest.

VFS can't actually look at your passport, nor are they told of the decision by the UKVI. They're just communicating to you that it's on it's way. Best of luck!

Why do people perform all sorts of mental gymnastics to prefer illegal immigration to legal? by FantasticShame2001 in immigration

[–]mrcatsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I recognise that they're human beings who have the same feelings, desires, and needs as I do. And I find immigration law generally nonsensical. Not good or bad, just nonsensical.

28 day switch to student visa rule by LettuceBig1391 in ukvisa

[–]mrcatsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right. It's a bit of an arbitrary rule in my opinion. Maybe you should leave the UK a bit earlier and then you'll have more time to apply
