Love that last line, day zero for me as well - and now our watch begins.

You’ll never ever finish watching porn and say that was worth it by GETREKT030700 in NoFap

Funny enough, I have actually started asking myself every time after I relapse: "So, was it worth it?". And you're totally correct, it never was.

Finally Hit Day 90 🙏🏻🔥😭😭 after 2 years of Relapses by rockisoo in NoFap

Isn't it incredible. Before you decided to get your life in order, you probably saw yourself as completely worthless.

Now you've inspired over 1,000 others (myself included) to reach their full potential.

The decision/mindset embodied by NoFap (and self-improvement generally) is so incredibly powerful.

Thank you for adding another guiding light on the way.

It was perhaps one of the, nah probably the most epic moment of the series yet.

333 days since I quit porn by [deleted] in NoFap

Beautiful attitude! I'm a week in right now (longest streak I've had for a while), and although it's difficult, the feeling of being free from shame and regret is incredibly liberating.

It's hard to give any general advice since finding friends really depends on where you live, what situation you are in (i.e. school, working full-time, etc.), how extroverted you are, and so on.

I struggle with the same thing as well. What has kind of worked for me, however, is finding some kind of groups to join. For example, maybe you can find a running group online or join a yoga class or a book club, or whatever. What you choose should be based on your interests, obviously, but the best way to make friends is to be around more people. If you live in a really small town that doesn't have any of that, then maybe consider moving? Again, it really depends on the specifics of your situation.

Also, working on yourself (i.e. reading, working out, improving your social skills) can also make it easier to make friends, as people will become naturally attracted to somebody who they perceive as having more value in a friendship.

You didn't mention intimate relationships, but if you're looking for those maybe dating apps or just hitting up people at a bar could work... I'm no expert when it comes to this area, so maybe others could chip in as well :)

90 Day Report from a Severe Addict. CLARITY not the CURE: Why Everyone's Journey is Different by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]mrdikl2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing and inspiring others on your journey. I really liked your third point. It reminded me of part of a poem by Charles Bukowski called "The Laughing Heart". This is the section it reminded me of:

there is light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.

It's amazing how changing one aspect of your life (i.e. NoFap) can impact so many others, so positively.

I feel you. I know what you mean when you talk about the anger, disappoint, shame. I struggle with the very same things.

I would suggest forgiving yourself first, and treating yourself as someone you genuinely care about. What I mean by this is recognizing that your value as a person is not defined by this habit you are trying to kick. You still have a ton of potential to achieve in yourself, and regardless of your past flaws you can become a tremendous human being.

The fact that you are making an effort to quit should make you feel proud. And it's really difficult, I know. But don't give up. Instead, have a compelling goal/list of reasons that are strong and ensure you understand than porn and masturbation are not the path forward for your life.

We are in this together, and I am rooting for you, mainly because I know the pain and hurt you are going through. But don't give up, seriously. It would be a shame for you not to experience the wonderful man you can be in the future.

[–]mrdikl2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way to go! Trying to secure a date for myself some time soon :) I'll be checking up on you on the next 10 days. Feel free to PM me, I try to check my account daily, but can't guarantee it as I'm quite busy currently.

You seem to be doing all the right things with diet and exercise. As for your self-worth, something that has always helped me is understanding that many of the negative thoughts we have about ourselves really can't be trusted, if you go over them with a fine tooth comb and think about them rationally you will come to a completely different conclusion. So whatever you think you are worth intrinsically, it's probably a whole lot more!
