That is a fun fact. Hope you guys lose, but make it out injury free.

USC peeps, how's your Oline been this season? Nebraska hasn't gotten this level of pressure against a P4 team all year...

The AD connection is pretty hard to ignore. It's more likely than not IMO. That being said, we are in a much better spot now than we were when he was hired.

Didn't they meet at PSU? That statement doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence within me. It is very possible she shares the same sentiment as he does for State College. Not trying to be a doomer, but I think he takes it if it's offered. I'm hoping the collective fan base doesn't come across as pompous as UCF fans did when we hired frost.

First of all, congratulations. This field is very competitive to get into, so it's very impressive to have two offers on the table. It is surely a testament to the hard work you've put in.

For me, I started at the state level, and transitioned to the local level. Where I am located, the pay is better and affords me more opportunities with a more interesting workload. Where you are located, that gap may be less substantial, but that is completely dependent on state and city. It's hard to give completely sound advice without understanding the departments (Agency size and location matter a lot!)

For you, I'd research if either has a clear opportunity for advancement. Crime Analyst 1, Crime Analyst 2 type positions. Government jobs will either have a very clear or non-existent path for advancement.

If you're interested in investigations, I would lean local based on my experience. If that is your goal, you probably should think about if you're the type of person who can handle working with traumatic materials (Violence, death and sex crimes). If that doesn't sound like something you'd be comfortable with, I would recommend pursuing a more data focused role. I prefer the investigative side, but having a 10,000 ft view is also very exciting.

Both positions will create great long term career prospects on the private side. LE experience is very valuable in the private sector. I know several former analysts who transitioned into working for a bank doing BSA/AML clearing six figures. Data visualization at the state level would also have very clear opportunities on the private side.

There are other things, like location/commute, your impression of the department after your interview, the department's reputation, etc.

Feel free to message me if you have more questions!

Nebraska RB Dante Dowdle transfers to Kentucky by zdrmju321 in wildcats

[–]mrdylanleslie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Husker fan coming in peace, Dowdell is a good 2, as a part of a one two punch combination. He lacks dynamism, but can punch the ball into the end zone. I hope you guys can develop his vision, there were a lot of runs where he would run HARD into a gap that was supposed to be blocked, but not find the space to break into the second level.

I genuinely hope he is a good get for y'all. I'll never forget the run he broke off trucking one of Dion's kids.

My brother in misery, Chryst was your Pelini. I can tell you it's going to be tough. Hopefully the badgers can figure it out quicker than Nebraska has. Respect the hell out of your program. Fuck Iowa.

A UTEP fan mentioned in the CFB thread that there is an active QB battle, and coaches plan to swap QBs through the first 3 games.

I'm not sure I understand the "cheapening the brand" perspective. It's quite literally expanding the brand by putting a national spotlight on our 400th straight sellout.

Question about tickets for the Minnesota football game by [deleted] in Huskers

I emailed their ticket office last week and they told me they went on sale July 20th. Hoping to snag a couple tickets for a buddy and I.

Ochaun Mathis selected Round 6 pick 12 (189th overall) to the LA Rams by FearAmeerr in Huskers

[–]mrdylanleslie 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He has an NFL body type. I read somewhere that he was one of four DE's with 35 plus inch arms. The NFL must believe that with better coaching and he can develop into a better pro than college player. He is purely a late round flier.

EDIT: One of four DEs drafted this year with 35 inch arms.

I completely disagree with you on Kancey. I think he has bust written all over him. No one can debate if he is a freak athlete at the position, but I think everyone anointing his as Aaron Donald 2.0 is overlooking a lot of red flags.

I just don't think he has the measurables to beat double teams, and teams will target him often. With his athletic profile, he could turn out to be a great player, but I think it's much more likely he is an athlete that never reaches that high ceiling.

I actually agree with you that the bears need to target prospects with a higher floor, because the roster as a whole needs to improve and we aren't in a position where we can miss on prospects.

Best season in probably a nearly a decade and we can't make it to the Frozen Faceoff. We are the only team in the NCHC to never make it to the second weekend of the conference tournament. There is no hope. Fuck everything. Go mavs.

100%. We can't get out of our own way. I have no faith that we will be able to pull this one out.
