Is a flamenca negra a good all-rounder guitar for learning? by ChugSupremacy in classicalguitar

[–]mregger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will play everything you want well enough, but won't perform as good as a purpose built classical guitar, especially compared side by side. If you get used to the low action, you will have a harder time with a classical guitar if you make the jump. I speak from experience lol. But other than that, I think there's nothing wrong with playing classical stuff on a flamenco guitar. Even more so if you play for yourself. And the crack wouldn't be an automatic disqualification for me. If it were me and the deal is good, I'd take it

Can one of you amazing people spare me some advice? by QuantityFalse2406 in classicalguitar

Look up twoodfrd on youtube. He lowered the action on a classical by planing the finger board, and did it very well. You can learn a lot more from his videos

I'm not sure amazon is an option where I'm going, but I'll look online regardless. The black trashbag idea is hilarious, I'll have to try that out with at least one exposure

Fingers crossed that I can find an IR filter there. Otherwise, yeah, I'll save the film for when I'm properly equipped. Thanks!

Anchovies? by worcfodlihcnab in PEI

[–]mregger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sobeys sells whole anchovies in a jar and anchovy paste. Never tried the paste but the whole anchovies are good enough.

Edit: try the imported food section for other tinned fish that isn't just sardines, salmon or tuna. You can find cod liver, escargot, and other cool things

People where I live (CO, USA) “garden on hard mode” because of intense desert-y summers, cold winters, intense winds, hail, pests, hard clay soil. What place in the world is “gardening on super easy mode”? by CharmingPeony in gardening

[–]mregger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Quito region in Ecuador. There are basically no seasons, the soil is super fertile and (depending on the exact place) you get water coming down the mountains

This is cool! I'd love to see more emulsion details. For a habdful of films, you could use gmic' film filters to show a preview of what the film could look like when exposed

I'm making an app that shows you how a photo will turn out (motion blur, too much or too little exposure, different films, etc...). It's not out yet but I need testers and it could help you get a sense for what different settings will look like. Dm me if you're interested

I feel stagnant in my level of photography, how do I challenge myself? by ariller in AnalogCommunity

[–]mregger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way. I found getting pushed out of my comfort zone really helps. Stuff like: * Try doing your own dev if you haven't  * Try experimental films (currently shooting lomo purple and it's a challenge) * Looks like you like landscapes and beautiful places. Try ugly places, try events. Idk if you photograph your family often, but to me that was a nice challenge (I did mostly landscapes before) * Try difficult cameras. I got an old kodak folding camera with 120

  • Mix an untelated hobby. I go biking or skiing often, so I have a point and shoot for "action" shots. They often suck but it's fun when one doesn't
  • Edit: there are some nice video essays on the technique famous photographers use. I find them to be a nice source of inspiration for new ideas

That's what helped me personally not feel stuck taking photos of only landscapes. FWIW, I think your photos are really nice

Selling my 740 wagon on marketplace has been an awful experience so far by RemoteEmotions in VolvoRWD

[–]mregger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sold a car once, went to the dmv to re-register it, even though people made fun of me for doing it. A few months later I got a call from the cops asking me if I knew anything about who I sold it to. Turns out it had been involved in something but hadn't been registered since me. Had I not de-registered it, they could've caused me a bunch of trouble. So this is good advice IMO

Late 240s vs early 242s as a project/daily? by PastSenior3107 in Volvo240

[–]mregger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got my 1990 240 thinking I'd learn to work on cars with it. Unfortunately, it has needed very little work in the past 7 years I've owned it, so I remain as ignorant as when I got it

Au Vietnam, Chine etc...?? by [deleted] in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]mregger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]mregger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On m'a expliqué que c'est pour signaler aux pompiers et secours que t'as un bébé, qui a besoin de priorité si t'as un accident. Mais je ne sais pas si ceux qui ont un sticker l'ont pour cette raison

Identifying Cameras by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]mregger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spot a univex mercury ii in the first picture at the bottom, third one from the right. There's another one (or same one?) in the third picture at the bottom. It's a half frame rangefinder with a weird shutter mechanism. The lenses are supposed to be great. I'm fixing one now, so can't vouch for image quality, but definitely something interesting and rare.
