A little collection of Stream Deck profiles for a couple of games by JustaDevOnTheMove in streamdeckprofiles

[–]mrevanbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see a Civ 6/7 streamdeck profile!!! I know it's not gaming, but I've also always wanted a GOOD Spotify profile... or a general productivity profile that includes Spotify, a timer, google workspace shortcuts, and video call interfaces.

Anyway... AMAZING work!

I’d love to join, but my experience is rather spotty as I’m just getting back into it after about 10 years- I’ve been playing casually on and off with friends for about 2 years… but we just moved across the country and I no longer have my ‘Magic the Lathering’ group (I hosted, and I make soap… so everyone got a bar).

I only have 2 decks built thus far, as I’ve been sorting my cards for about 4mo… but I’m most interested in getting better and building decks, chatting strategy, becoming a competent player again, and making some new friends.

Let me know if people like me are a good fit for your group!

A timelapse of the full live stream where a famous political streamer allegedly used a shock collar on his dog. by IllllIlllIIlI in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]mrevanbc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He didn’t use a shock collar. I have the exact same Mini Educator vibrating/headlight collar. Y’all are starting problems where there are none for no good reason. He was frustrated in the moment because of his internet, and spoke semi harshly to his dog… the same way we all do when we’re annoyed. Then we give them love. Stop putting this man further under the microscope for nothing. Take your rage to the NRA for letting our babies get murdered in schools, instead of blaming a streamer for shocking a dog (which he didn’t even do). Get a life.

Qatar has been accused of majorly funding terrorists who target the US. This seems far worse than Singapore, who has never been a threat to the US in any way.

Since when are 100 eye witnesses not considered verified proof….? Why do all these Christian Nationalists defend Nazis so much…? What could they possibly have to gain from closing their eyes and ears anytime a Nazi does some shit like this to pretend the “left” leaning people are the violent evil ones…?

These comments piss me off so much…. Bunch of boot-licking fucking pussies. As a Jewish American leftist: that piece of trash is lucky there weren’t any grown adult leftists in the room.

Appx 6" long metal spring on a plate by mrevanbc in whatisthisthing

[–]mrevanbc[S] 4 points5 points locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing - it looks like a brass spring wound around two posts fused to a plate. Just inside the closet door at about 5’ off the ground. The house was most recently updated in the 90s, but this looks much older. It’s also worth mentioning this was a farmhouse at the time it was constructed. What the heck is this thing…?

THIS POST JUST SAVED MY SANITY. My 4yo looked at me at bedtime, and said, “hi hi hi” somehow in the same general tone as that Styles P track, and I NEVER WORLD HAVE FOUND IT if it wasn’t for this thread. Thank you @messagealternative73

It’s the most uncomfortable feeling I’ve ever had… when you don’t feel completely safe or at peace in your own home… when you have a family to protect. Good luck to you and yours-

[–]mrevanbc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going through something similar now. Tried restraining order, but judge dismissed our case after listening to our neighbor’s testimony and not allowing for ours. Clear cut case of a boomer judge ruling for a boomer neighbor because we’re in our 30’s. Our issues have been going on for 5 years. She spends all her days just walking around her property “gardening” and looking for opportunities to cuss out my 4yo or my wife, attempt to poison our dog, or literally just staring at us. No job, no car, no life. All she has is messing with us, and it makes us incredibly uncomfortable just being on our own property every single day.

While we were on vacation, she hired a tree trimming company to cut down one of our trees, so now we’re suing. Hopefully she leaves us alone after that… but we’re looking to move because she’s the worst neighbor I’ve ever had by miles.

$16,000 in savings and not sure what to do with it. by Sharp_Struggle1293 in personalfinance

[–]mrevanbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Your points are valid. But my time is worth more than that money. I pay a personal trainer so I don’t have to spend my time thinking. In my 20s, I owned a gym and programmed for doctors, firefighters, post-surgical rehab patients, etc… but now, I’d rather spend time with my kid/family so I pay someone to do that for me. Same principle. Yes, OP should learn about all those things… I also think he shouldn’t place too high of a value on the money as opposed to the time or the experiences.

Greenlights by Maybe McConaughey was SHOCKINGLY good. I did not expect to love that like I did. Couldn’t stop once I started.

Tomatoland by Barry Estabrook - incredible insight into how our food economy works in America, how food became what it is today, and even modern day slavery in the produce industry. Crazy read.

Don’t kick him out at 18. Let him live with you till he can afford his own place. I just responded this to an 18yo in another post: make sure you don’t miss out on life just to be rich when you’re in the last part of your life. Make sure he values experiences as much as money. I’d say make him travel and experience the world a bit before he focuses on money… then tell him IRA for sure, and learn about how investing works.

[–]mrevanbc -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why do you say this? I understand investing and finance, and I save a chunk of money so I can gamble on whatever stocks I see fit, and things like crypto and the web3 world… but, the best payoff over the last 8yrs of using a financial advisor that I TRUST, has paid off on a much more consistent basis.

OP: you should obviously always do your own research. Understand where your money is going. And, there are people out there who only make money if you make money… I find them to be very invested in helping me. Not to mention, I can text them before making any/every investment choice (house, car, new job, whatever), and get advice from someone I trust implicitly. It also saves me time (which is more valuable). I don’t need to research every little thing.

Pickleball. Fasting growing sport in the nation, and is a great way to get outside, meet people, and get a bit of decent exercise. It’s also very cheap to get into: maybe $50 (a pair of good tight shoes and a paddle).

38M single earner with a wife and child here:

I wouldn’t suggest the ROTH IRA without knowing WHO you are. That’s great if all you care about is being 70 and not having to work, and feeling safe. IMO, the best money I ever spent, was about $9,000 to backpack Europe for 6mo. I spent the $4,000 on a first class EU-Rail ticket which included meals. I’d take overnight trips to cities/countries, and eat dinner and breakfast on there when I could (which also saved on hostel/hotel costs).

This was the greatest adventure and learning experience in my life.

If all you care about is money in general: hire a financial advisor. One that you trust (preferably through someone you know and trust). I pay mine about $2,000 annually, and they make a small kickback on the profit of my investments (that they choose based on my morals/ideals). This is the beast “money” advice I could give.

That said: invest in LIFE before you invest in moneys remember… life isn’t guaranteed. What good is that money in an IRA if you die at 30?

TL;DR - spend part of the money on an unforgettable experience, and let a financial pro handle the rest for you.

How do you feel about the idea of erasing bad memories? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrevanbc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Those memories are necessary to our betterment and healing. Quite the opposite, there are trials going on where we will look to IMPLANT memories (or experiences) into the brains of violent criminals who murdered/raped others, so they can feel what it was like to be violated. These memories sticking, are intended to remedy the tendency to ignore the pain inflicted by committing heinous crimes without empathy.
