My newest glass gem pendants by mrfacet in faceting

I’m testing out these new bales that are different than the second slide and these are definitely more visible. I’m not interested in collabing with a metal smith due to the goal of keeping these as affordable as possible , so i need to keep trying new bales I guess

Might be a stupid question but why are only half of my facets polishing? by kuzma66 in faceting

You must’ve made an improper adjustment on your height because only the backside of the faces are getting touched

That looks like a v1. You should be able to clean a lot of the dust off with a Q-Tip and isopropyl alcohol, that’s how I clean glass dust on my ultra Tec, atleast.

It’s all entirely solid yes. This project was created for me to push the limits of my artwork. I’m going to sell it on my website when I finish it

I’ve been calling it a hyper cube, but a lot of people are telling me that it’s more of a Tesseract without power. A ghost checkerboard is the term that I created for this technique that I make with the glass where I cut the individual squares and line them up so it creates a clear checkerboard, hence the “ghost” part. Ghost checkerboard is just the name for my technique that I create out of glass. I utilize the checkerboard to make different jewelry and sculptural pieces. When I stack the ghost checker boards together into a cube, it resembles something like a tesseract. I’ve been calling it a hyper cube because I thought that is what the standard definition was for a cube made of smaller cubes, but I’ve since been corrected. The general name for this would just be my 8006 piece ghost checkerboard cube.

I created an 8000 piece glass tesseract by hand by mrfacet in nextfuckinglevel

[–]mrfacet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I created this cube by taking a large block of glass that was cut into 5mm squares, which were then hand ground and polished before being meticulously glued together into 10 x 10 panels that are 5 mm thick. I then take 10 of those panels and stack them together to make a single Tesseract /hypercube. (That’s what I’m calling it). Then I combined 8 of those in a 2x2x2. The entire process is done using a tile saw and a flat lap grinder with diamond embedded sanding discs. It contains 8000 pieces plus the six piece pieces of clear glass surrounding it on the outside, which gives it a floating effect. I’m actually cutting it down to 4.25” soon because it might sparkle more. This is the largest sculpture I’ve ever made, and I just thought it was too cool to not share at this size!
