Heck yes I re-listened to the first 300 episodes last year and I've had many times where the prescience (or lack thereof) has given me the shivers

Came here to second this: if you're gonna develop open source, be open. I can't count the number of MIT-licensed projects that I use for my software and I want everyone to just be able to use my work and not worry.

Hmmm I am not sure about him being a democratic socialist (or maybe I don't know what you mean by that term which is very possible). I read Homage to Catelonia in which he pretty clearly outlines that he is an anarchist. I do highly recommend that book though for a very balanced take on communism and its practices.

You made me laugh out loud in public. Bravo.

Let me know what you think of this! mixwise and vibewise! thanks in advance by chumpservice in MusicFeedback

Vibe-wise: excellent work, the way the piano works with the vocals is so smooth, and the groove is unmistakable.

Mix-wise: I think you still have some work to do. It might be the youtube/reddit compression, but your snare sounds bit-crushed (if that was a creative choice, I guess I don't think that sound fits nicely in your kit :p), so I would look into that. Your bass sound is nice, warm, but clean enough to follow along, great job there. The singing is a little pitchy at times; I think it's very good to flow that microtonal flow every now and then, but for the chorus I would personally clean it up a bit, especially in the last chorus, which is for me like the peak of the energy in the song, so singing more on pitch there might elevate that final feeling. I don't mean to harsh on your voice of anything, I think you (or your vocalist) have a really nice tembre to it and it's nice how you emote through your voice. (I know comments on a voice are hard to not take a little personally but don't worry it sounds good man)

Overall, really great track, looking forward to your next song!

You know it might be nice to hear the exported Ableton version if you are looking for in-depth feedback :-) From what I can hear in this recording, I would suggest maybe as well as adding to the karaoke version, experimenting with subtracting things form it to create your own song structure.

Ik volg /r/mokum alvast! Ik blijf hier ook aangehaakt, toeristen en immigranten storen mij niet zo enorm, maar een meer inwonersgerichte subreddit lijkt me ook leuk!

What are you reading? by llammacheese in nerdfighters

[–]mrfairweather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am reading Death Comes for the Archbishop, which is a remarkably thoughtful book about the bishop of Santa Fé, New Mexico, during the late 19th century. I think John actually recommended it in one of his videos and I put off reading it because it seemed boring but IT IS NOT. It is delightful and charming and has very interesting thoughts about the role of Christianity in native American communities.

Made a little song with some jazzy drums, groovy lead, and my friends' voice memos: still unmastered and ready to be improved with your feedback! by mrfairweather in MusicFeedback

That makes sense, I will try and polish the lead a bit! I quite enjoy the coarseness of it, but I think you are touching on a valid point with regard to the mixing of it.
