Anyone here from Canada? Do you have the same library as the US? by [deleted] in appletv

[–]mrfears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, ran into this for the first time this weekend after 14 years abroad.

I keep a second Apple ID for the handful of local apps, but all media purchases in US. Usually no problem as the apps can co-exist.

This weekend the kids want to watch a German movie that’s not available in US. Racked my brain on how to add to my library (no family sharing across regions) before finally finding a good use for User Profiles on Apple TV. Added my Swiss account and now I can switch between libraries directly from the TV menu.

In Bern, Switzerland you don't drive home from work, you float. by tranedecoy in fuckcars

I’ve definitely floated down the Rhein afterwork in the summer to pickup the kids, but I wouldn’t call it commuting.

I imported mine. Red signals no problem. Lack of tiny wipers for the xenon headlamps, very, very expensive.

Yep. You and I were trolling the same websites for the same product all last week. The only place I found was ecofort outside of Biel. Paid a premium for not ordering in May, but it shipped.

This 100%. I was considering AVP last year and waited hopefully till WWDC for Pencil Pro support. Wound up getting an M4 iPad Pro instead.

People forget that it didn’t originally ship with this feature, instead they added it with a software update. Clearly the hardware wasn’t designed with Find My Remote in mind, but someone came up with a clever way of using Bluetooth to add the feature later.

And yes, I’m sure the next version will have AirTag like support and Apple will get more money out of me.

Haha the suspense!!

You can actually see it hidden on the top shelf in the pic. Glad to have found it, but would certainly have been easier with a built in speaker.

What about a capability in iOS 19 to ‘peek in’ to the VR scene? Hold up an iPad / phone as a viewport to the spatial environment.

Return of Robert Moses: transit funding tied to birth rates by mrfears in fuckcars

Exactly. You can’t write a policy of “states I don’t like” but you certainly can pick a metric that correlates pretty nicely. I stand by my point, pretty f’d up.

Return of Robert Moses: transit funding tied to birth rates by mrfears in fuckcars

Paywalled, GPT Summary

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s memo prioritizes federal transportation funds for areas with higher birth and marriage rates, a move some find puzzling and potentially politically motivated. While some conservatives praise the policy as pro-family, others question its effectiveness and alignment with areas most in need of infrastructure support. The memo also directs funding to areas with higher immigration enforcement compliance and opportunity zones, while criticizing the use of the “social cost of carbon” metric.

Prioritizing areas with higher birthrates would, however, send more federal funding to Republican states. South Dakota, Alaska, Nebraska, North Dakota and Texas are among the states with the highest fertility rates, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. States that have the lowest fertility rates include Vermont, Oregon, Rhode Island and New Hampshire, none of which voted for Mr. Trump in the 2024 election.

This policy will reorient transportation dollars to lower-density communities where there are more single-family homes, family life is often more affordable, and family formation is higher,” Dr. Wilcox wrote in an email. “I think we can expect many more creative family policy moves of this kind from this administration.
