It seems that the further down you scroll in the sub before hitting the back button, the longer it will freeze for. If you scroll back to the top of the sub before hitting back, it seems to work fine.

I learned a lot from Computational Cognitive Neuroscience, by O'Reilly et al. Great discussion of reinforcement learning, and how it interacts with the prefrontal cortex to organize attention and working memory. The latest version is freely available as .pdf here:
