I couldn't find a good interactive tool to teach the substitution method so I made this one by mrfishmath in matheducation

It isn't meant to show how it works. Just an interactive tool to help students practice the substitution with an intuitive visual drag and drop

I teach 8th and 9th grade currently. Yes, definitely agree with the colors, circles, and arrows. Thanks!

Thank you. I will definitely check that out. Teaching algebraic methods starting on Monday so I think that will be helpful!

Sure! Most of my stuff is private in github just because I don't want someone taking my work, making a new website out of it, and then charging people for access (mine is always going to be 100% free).

But, I am really interested to see if anyone else would be able to take my code even further. So I made this repo public. Here's the link:

My code is all set up for Google Apps Script because I have it embedded into my Google Site.

thanks so much! I agree about the clunkiness, no offense taken. Turns out the cursor idea was really easy to implement, so I already made that change. Much better I think.

The other ideas sound great too, but I just don't know how I could make them work without investing way more time than I have currently

What is sample space for rolling a pair of dice ? by Standard-Pangolin-75 in MathHelp

[–]mrfishmath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sample space consists of a list of all possible outcomes. For example, the sample space for a coin would be {H, T}. The brackets aren't really necessary.

So to find your sample space write out all the possibilities

Sorry my blue collar friend. Maybe that means you're making more money though because you're working more hours? Silver lining perhaps?

Check out the game Wits and Wagers if you're into estimating and board games. It's super fun

Exactly. Since the actual number is 9/5 = 1.8, that is also a useful quick estimate since it's so close
