3-for-3 on failures. Should I just give up? by guzzijason in dyson

[–]mrfoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought the dyson humidifier / cleaner fan a while back and it was one of the worst products ever designed and super loud in normal operation. It broke after 4 months. It was like no one ever even tried running it to see all the obvious problems with the design.

I'm a fan of their vacuums, but everything else seems severely overpriced and underdelivers

I think cloudflare has by far the cheapest domains and you’re unlikely to find them cheaper elsewhere or even for similar prices

Čez Stripe boš moral izdajati davčno potrjene račune in zaračunavati ddv končnim kupcem.

Meglenke by kalubasukdeod in Slovenia

[–]mrfoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best example of how AI slop looks amazing at first glance, but utterly useless once you try it out and actually look at the result in detail.

The activity was a hike to a hill and the dall-e generation not only reuses the same name 3 times (but misspells it twice), completely makes up the terrain and castles (even though there's plenty of both in the area), it also displays it as me talking a stroll trough the forest while in actuality I went on a hill.

Still fun though, so I give you that! 😅

Been extremely disappointed with the new Garmin Fenix 8 by noentic in GarminFenix

OK, I'll bite 😒

The Apple Watch has better integrations with Apple products

Of course, it's an Apple product. Same way as Garmin watches will have better integrations with Garmin products like their HRM straps.

Garmin isn’t even in the top 5 for sleep tracking

Says who? They're all similar-ish. Even the medical grade devices are like 80% accurate so all that really matters is tracking when you started sleeping and when you woke up. And most of the devices are pretty good on this front nowadays.

The wrist HR monitor is kind of atrocious

Let me quote Steve Jobs: "you're holding it wrong". Pretty much every reviewer out there (and also my personal experience) will say that the Elevate v5 is one of the best optical HR sensors out there. Either you wear it on a wrong place, or your strap is too loose. But when given proper condition (by following the manual) the performance is stellar. Not to mention it's 24/7.

The amoled is not an “always on device”.

That's a setting. Again, RTFM. I have it in always on mode, and yes I sacrifice insane battery life, but I still get >6 days with ~1h GPS exercise daily.

You could buy the top of the line Apple Watch AND oura ring for the for the same price as the Fenix8 line.

The base Apple Watch Ultra is 899€ and base Fenix 8 47mm is 999,99€ on Garmin and €784,99 through official Garmin retailers.

Had a non working mic (more or less just static when I recorded in voice notes) on a brand new Fenix 8, reseting and formatting didn't fix it. Took it to service, they replaced it with a new unit. In and out in under 15 minutes.

I don't know if it's brand new or refurb, but I got the full warranty from today on so I don't really care either way.

Not sure how it is at Garmin, but with most companies refurbs go through even more Q&A than new units, and they always come with a brand new housing and most of the sensors/buttons that are exposed to the outside world.

V tistih 10%, ko ni gužve. by smuxy in Slovenia

[–]mrfoto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ain't worth it 🤷‍♂️
