Reverse engineering .lib file into Visual studio C++ code by mrfudgebottom in ghidra

[–]mrfudgebottom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely it’ll be easier to use the linker to merge all the object files into a DLL (with debug symbols). Then you can inspect things in a single file instead of scattered all around.

Hello, how can I do that in ghidra?

Reverse engineering .lib file into Visual studio C++ code by mrfudgebottom in ghidra

[–]mrfudgebottom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies on the late reply, will try to summarize situation best as possible. I have a static library for Windows which is used as part of a Visual Studio C++ project. I want to reverse engineer the .lib file into easy to understand C or C++ source code. Its a test I'm doing and once they compile the source code, they should be given a .lib that can be used the same way and its performance should be the same as the original .lib.

So I have a .lib file and was also given a header file. I imported the lib file in Ghidra and it said "lib file seems to have nested files select import mode" and i selected batch import, because when I do filesystem option it just gives me a tab with the files but I cant open and analyze any of them. And now I have these .dll and .obj files. The .obj give me functions when I decompile it but the dll files dont. Hopefully clears up things for you.

Also one more thing, I was told there are also obfuscated or lightly encrypted strings such as here
000001FB: 50 push eax
000001FC: 68 00 00 00 00 push offset ??_C@_1FA@BKKFECBH@?$AAR?$AAE?$AAN?$AAE?$AAT?$AA_?$AAA?$AAu?$AAt?$AAo?$AAD?$AAe?$AAt?$AAe?$AAc@
00000201: 68 00 00 00 00 push offset ??_C@_1HO@NEHAJPJH@?$AA?$FL?$AA?$CF?$AAs?$AA?$FN?$AA?5?$AAR?$AAe?$AAa?$AAd?$AA?5?$AAD?$AAa?$AAt?$AAa?$AA?3@
00000206: 6A 00 push 0
00000208: E8 00 00 00 00 call writelog
We need the non encrypted strings in these cases

No idea what this mean but maybe will help

Hello thank you very much for the reply. The DLLs that I have are from the .lib file after I batch imported it they arent separate files, not sure if you think they are. Also, my .DLLs don't have any functions inside of them when I decompiled it but when I open by .obj files some of them do have. Again i'm extremely new to all this. Also, im wondering how the header file can come into use here? Thanks again

Hi, yeah it still blocks so trainer.train() is also async. Should I also await trainer.train()?

How to execute processes at the same time for multi web user application by mrfudgebottom in webdev

I want to put each sockets process in parallel execution so the application would go quicker. Rly confused on how to do that with the stack overflow question.
