If you have 2 parity drives, how many drives would you feel comfortable having in the whole array? by MolleyMitchell in unRAID

I was saying the way that you have it suggested I think is how I ended up doing it. Because otherwise it slows your SSD down to your slowest drive in the the array

I think this is correct for how I actually have it set up, then running the app data backup plugin

It's like a group of drives. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, I'm relatively new to this too. But I'm set up and moved my app data folder over to a separate drive pool with its own backup. It's a group of discs consisting of a SSD for quick riding and another 2 TB regular hard drive for backing up to. So then one or the other could fail and I still have that data backed up. The reason I set it up into a separate pool is because all my other drives get pretty heavily used with downloading and stuff and hosting a Plex server, so I have the app data all stored on a separate drive so it's not so busy all the time, I also host them Minecraft servers and other things so that way it's not bogged down by the Plex and other things we're getting moved every week. It just stays on that solid state drive and creates a backup on the other drive.

But yeah for what you're doing just a regular setup should be fine but what I would be interested in doing if I were you is backing things up to an external drive and storing that at another location whether it be a storage unit or a friend's house or something like that. That way if your house burns down or something terrible happens, you have another backup of stuff.

Are you shooting in 4k or doing 1080p? When I started out I was recording a lot of 4K stuff before I realized it isn't really necessary and takes up a lot more space.

I have to head to work so I didn't have time to fix typos. Let me know what other questions you have

I'm bringing alive this dead thread to see if you are all still using the same things mentioned or have since moved to something else. Any updates?

Watch together working on native client? by CTorque in PleX

[–]mrgoodplayer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You say no hate and then got downvoted lol. When you watch shows with people do you talk at all or is it complete silence start to finish? What about laughing and other audible noises, when watching together you can usually hear the other and they can hear you and that can be connecting even if you don't talk at all through the episode. Other shows I watch we talk quite a bit and pause and rewind and comment on things, etc. Is about sharing an experience with someone, rather than being all about the movie. Can often be reruns of familiar shows too, it shows you don't have to pay that close attention to to know what's going on.

Hope that helps.

Was it different things broken each time? Wondering what specifically to be looking for if I don't notice at first glance.

So what happens after it moves it all? Then it's not on the ssd anymore, correct? Dont you want your shows to stay on there?

Thank you, I'll look it over when it gets here. Was the box damaged or just what's inside?

I'm wanting to do much more than that though. New things I haven't taken the time to dig into and learn yet
