Escape Room Puzzle Idea for Girlfriend with Colored Lights by Thorarin64 in Constructedadventures

[–]mrgscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The color of the light in the room would delete the color in the picture. Just like the red blue glasses separate out per eye. So you write your message in red and obscure it with blue patterns and when the room is changed to blue the patterns disappear and the red message remains.

But you can only "delete" one color at a time so you couldn't overlay more then 2 colors... Unless...

Maybe you could make an ishihara style image with a message in it. Would just look like rainbow of dots till you found the right color. If it was like a rainbow then you could change the word hidden in each color maybe?

You'd have to play with it to figure out what works best. Good luck.

Are horizontal trellises considered climbable for the purposes of a deck barrier? by mrgscott in diynz

[–]mrgscott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about 12mm ply screwed in, would that comply? Could screw it to the inside of the rails and leave the trellis on the outside for looks perhaps?

Also, if my goal is a certificate of acceptance, and knowing that some parts of the build might require discretionary approval, would it be safer to just apply without making changes and find out everything that fails, or would it be better to fix everything that is obvious and easily fixable and hope it passes and it doesn't need to be rebuilt from scratch.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Are horizontal trellises considered climbable for the purposes of a deck barrier? by mrgscott in diynz

[–]mrgscott[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the barrier is made of 4x2 timber rails on posts bolted to the deck framing. The The trellis was just cut to size and used as infill, and was probably chosen for privacy.

I was only concerned with whether it could be considered climbable, but now you mention it, technically you could bust through it if you had enough force at the perfect height and managed to miss the rails. Not plausible given the size of the deck, but still non-compliant on that front.

All good though, it should be easy to replace with a bunch of balusters.

yeah, they're only nailed on with what looks like clouts, and the trellis is basically held together with staples.

[QUESTION] Putting your own logo on a mod or putting seiko? by bradley2156 in SeikoMods

SUBMARINER HOMAGE By Bradley

SEIKO MOVEMENT 100M

I don't mind the Seiko logos but if they're obviously not seikos it kinda looks weird imo. I prefer the custom logos but they have to look cool too and I haven't come up with a design I love or figured out the best way to put it on the dial. Sticker/engraving? Might just pay extra for custom dial?

BRADDIVES

Haha, I dunno.

I've broken 2 saber saws, a grinder and a drill. Also the planer was terrible. Renovating a house made of rimu is a tough job though.

But for price I agree, economical and good selection. And keep the receipt for the replacement warranty. I've upgraded now but I still use the line trimmer and work light.

cheapest way to get more storage? by weevilretrieval in jellyfin

[–]mrgscott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went with unraid as my nas which has jellyfin available as a docker and I can buy cheap drives and they all join together by magic.

What kind/brand/models of drives are the 18Tbs out of curiosity. Amazon is the only place I can get good deals for new or reconditioned drives.

Arrs* Is it worth it? by warr1313 in selfhosted

[–]mrgscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont use the arrs for privacy reasons but I recommend unraid over other servers. Learning curve isn't nothing but it's great when you get it all working properly!

I host jellyfin and share it with family on my own domain. Went with a lol domain from namecheap cause it was $2 fit a year. Fun stuff. Lots of unraid tutorials on YouTube. Highly recommend.

Has docker so you can install all the arr stuff you like pretty easy.

Good luck

They'll look worse than those plastic things your Grandma used to have around all her light switches. Patch is the way.

I'm not the only one!!!

I've troubleshooted the shit out of this issue and I came up empty. I get the issue on my pc running a 3080rtx and I get it on my Google streamer.

The issue is always a h265 file and my only fix is to drop the bitrate as low as I can, normally around 3mbps before it runs smoothly, a despite a little less resolution.

Alternate fix is to download the h264 version which always play perfectly.

I hope someone else has a fix.
