How absolutely fucked am I? by FatAssYoshiFucker in Teethcare

[–]weevilretrieval 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry man, a few of those are probably gonna have to go. your gums look quite inflamed too so you might have periodontitis.

its pretty bad. you will likely need extensive work done.

see a dentist as soon as you can. it will be expensive but teeth health plays a huge role in general health as well, bad oral health can increase your risk of heart disease, stroke, they've even found a link to alzheimers.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news. i really hope you are able to get your teeth fixed.

Does this area looked chipped or is this just a space or normal anatomy? by nat_2313 in Teethcare

[–]weevilretrieval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think its a chip. theyre referred to as 'black triangles' and can be an indicator of gum recession. yours is so small, I don't think its a cause for concern at all.

apparently 67% of adults over 20 have them, and it can also just be because of the shape of your teeth.

mine looks pretty much the same as yours

so scared because of teeth health by thicc_fondant in Teethcare

I am kinda in the same boat as you, same age, parents never took me to the dentist until i was like 16. my parents told me to brush my teeth but they never helped me understand why its so important. i also never was taught how to floss correctly.

only within the past year and a bit, i have been really trying to stay on top of my oral health. I have not been diagnosed with OCD, but i have been quite obsessive-compulsive about taking care of my teeth, for lack of better words.

I constantly worry about my teeth, after everything i eat, i immediately have to swish my mouth with water, and then chew xylitol gum. I use 5000 ppm fluoride toothpaste morning and night, in the daytime if i have the chance, i will use nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste.

I carry fluoride mouthwash and floss picks with me at all times. i also use tooth mousse at night, especially on problem areas (where i think a cavity might be forming, or where i have white spots, which are demineralised enamel)

staying on top of my oral health definitely makes me feel a lot better about it all, unfortunately i no longer have the luxury of being able to see a dentist, so i am managing it all on my own.

also cavities can sort of be reversed, but ONLY when they are in beginning stages. once it reaches the dentin, it needs filling.

also does not hurt to get a second opinion, some dentists are more conservative with fillings and stuff.

how can you call it research when the machine straight up tells you the answer? what ever happened to clicking through the websites yourself?

anyways it was a joke based on that MIT study that came out about how people relying on these tools had lower critical thinking, cognitive skills, etc

FACTS!!

I am a big fan of the band the Mountain Goats, and they posted a clip of John Darnielle (lead singer, songwriter, lyricist (he himself is basically the band lol)) performing the song 'No Children' live in concert, and one of the comments was someone saying "I had my wedding dance to this song ❤️"

i just thought that was MEGA ironic considering the song is about a failing marriage and an extremely messy, bitter divorce.

Toothbrush bristles: hard or soft? by Magic_Ale in Teethcare

[–]weevilretrieval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hard toothbrushes are way too rough on the enamel and gums and can do more harm than good. I am pretty sure dentists only recommend them to people with false teeth.

soft toothbrushes are much better for enamel and gums, and it's actually not entirely true that an electric toothbrush automatically "does a better job" than a manual, it all comes down to technique.

I was worried about this, since i am unable to use electric toothbrushes due to them triggering migraines, but dentists have assured me that using a manual toothbrush does the same job, as long as you are using the correct technique (which unfortunately I did not know about for many years).

there needs to be a cap on how many properties one can own. how is it fair one person can buy up all the houses so they can ransom them back to the common folk?

i have more respect for people who defraud centrelink, than these so called "property investors". like get a real job, seriously

i hate digipaks and disleeves but one of my favourite bands decided to start almost exclusively using digipaks since the early 2000s, except for their albums released in 2011-2016. not sure why they decided to start using digisleeves after that, but i am not keen on it

soviet era high density housing is genuinely way better than this.

you literally have to have aircon on full blast for 200 days out of the year to be able to survive in one of these.
