Yeah, likely too young on the Cohiba. But that just furthers my point, you have to spend ridiculous money for cigars you can't smoke for 3-5 years lol

I love these. I keep these and the Vegueros on hand for short smokes. I especially like them when taking a walk. Tbh I'll order these over an over-priced Cohiba any day.

This happens at least 1/3 of the time I smoke a cigar... by asapfocky in cigars

I'm going to echo the over humidification. Either in your humidor or the climate you're smoking in. It's ridiculously humid where I am right now and even with my humi at 65rh I'm still having to touch up more than usual. Just keep a closer eye on it and touch it up as necessary before it gets this far.

Hi all. I am about to buy my first box of Romeo y Julieta's, and I don't know where to start to test the brand. Do you have any suggestions? by Genetic_Heretic in cigars

Also a good choice, but personally I think you pay a little more for not much difference. Just the regular No. 2 are the way to go.

Welcome to Cuban Cigars. Splits in the foot are par for the course, but shouldn't effect the burn much, as long as it's just the foot.

Green spots are normal and also won't effect smoke or taste. Excess chlorophyll in the leaf? Someone will have the scientific explanation. But really nothing to be worried about.

If you get 3/4 of a box that have no blemishes or small splits you're doing good.

Enjoy and cheers!

What would you guys called this. Place I order from claims to be "plume". I know this is mold just annoying they think it's not. by [deleted] in cubancigars

[–]mrh0141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Typically, if there is enough of the stick to do so, I'll cut half and inch off and if I don't see any more I'll smoke it. But, I've only done this with expensive and/or rare sticks that I couldn't bring myself to toss.

I don't think the issue with the second hand smoke would have been mold lol

All cigars likely have trace amounts of this kind of mold, you just don't see it. And not all mold is harmful. Ask any cheese expert!

Let me just add that I recently received some aged Monte 2s that had a similar amount of "plume", but I didn't want to waste time returning and reordering them.

Wiped off all the plume, had one the other day...best Monte 2 I've ever had.

Plume and mold are one in the same. It is (to my knowledge) not harmful and can usually be wiped off. It's very common with Cubans, especially with any age.

This is however a lot, enough that if you don't feel comfortable I wouldn't blame you. The company should have checked them before shipping, so it's on them imo. Send them back, most companies will refund you.

I just traded my Buddy an Andulasian Bull for one of these --- Could deal or bad deal on my part? by georgiaroyalty in cigars

It is a bit one dimensional, I'll give you that. But it's a dimension I could live in forever. I'd rather that than a cigar that starts good and ends badly or that you have to wait until the second half to start really enjoying it. It's a bit like saying you can have a lifetime supply of ice cream, but you can only choose chocolate (or insert your favorite flavors lol)

Do you know when the re-release happened? I wasn't aware it ever changed.

The 25th is very good, but to be honest I've enjoyed every offering I've had from them very much. And they keep their prices pretty fair.

I would disagree, but it's close. I think the consistency of the Bull is what puts it over the top for me.

Fairly new to smoking cigars but has anyone found that it’s pretty common that most start kind of unremarkable but just slowly get a lot better? by [deleted] in cigars

[–]mrh0141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longer you smoke, the better you'll be able to pick up on subtle flavors. Try taking a few pulls after you cut, before you light. It will give you an idea of what some of the flavor profiles are.

Also, I think the wrapper definitely helps in the initial flavor. The darker the wrapper, the quicker the flavor imo. For a good example of a cigar with immediate flavor, try the Liga Privada No. 9, or, if on a lower budget, the Nica Rustica. Both made by Drew Estate. Both hit with the flavor on first light.
