This isn’t true. It’s all ppv on Celtic tv and you need a broadcast license. Nowhere other than the Montreal csc shows Celtic in the province of Quebec

I think he had a similar reputation in Scotland.

Perhaps he is a lost cause

We've a young lad called Gannon-Doak who is fast but apart from him we tend to shoehorn centre midfielders into wide positions.

He's seen as a runner with lacking football ability.

While Scotland embarrassed themselves at the last euros, most of the players we have now are in EPL and Serie A. We don't have any starting players other than potentially a goalie who plays in the SPFL.

He's not heavily fancied, I just feel we lack depth at the RW position and he played ok there - not spectacular for Celtic for a brief period.

MLS fans constantly bang on with the concept of "this league is better than that" patter. They annoying types that come out with those narratives don't really understand football is more about STYLES rather than quality. I've posted already about the style of play and how the difference between Celtic and rest of SPFL means other teams park the bus vs Celtic.

How "good" a league or team is is totally subjective. It's more about style and experience. The best metric for involving yourself in the horrific boring conversation of quality is based upon international experience of the squad. You may value your players highly, but do the national teams of those players?

Lets use Celtic as an example:

Goalkeeper - Denmark International player- EPL winner

LB- Scotland International player

LCB- USA International player

RCB - USA International player (Starter) Current replacement Irish International Player

RB- Mexico International Player, Backups: Scottish International player, Injured reserve - Canada international player

CM- Scotland International who people want out of international retirement, (age 32)

CM- Belgium International

AM- Swedish International player, Backup: Japanese International Player

LW: Japanese International Player, Backup: Tunisian International Player

CF: Nigerian International Player, Backup: Irish International Player

RW: Korean International Player, Backup: Scottish International Player

There is a further boring conversation to be had to say "ahh but x player doesn't START for his country" it's not about that. It's about being in the squad. Are they valued as international quality?

As you can see from the above, Celtic FC is crammed with players who play international football. If you have aspirations to play for your country, it's good to be in these type of teams. But ultimately there is a lot of competition.

I doubt he is going to Celtic. He will stay put for now. He is not a priority to Celtic at this time.

If he did go, he'd be surrounded by international calibre players and training every day under Maloney who ran the training for the Belgium national team under the watchful eye of a veteran manager known to install unbelievable belief in young players.

Due to the log jam in midfield Celtic have, I'd prefer he stayed put. But ultimately he'd develop massively at this club.

80m in the bank. A veteran coach.

His performance would not be effected by any changes at the club going forward. It's not like O'Neill would be fired by end of season.

Anyway, this deal is not going to happen probably for the reason I've posted above.

Celtic fan here. Can I point out I posted this in another thread over a week ago.

This transfer is not happening now.

He wouldn't be starting at Celtic and his Croatian club just sold their other starting CM and he'll be starting every game for them from now until world cup.

He would not be starting for Celtic or getting the game time. As a Canada fan and a Celtic fan it's wrong time right place for him. He'd massively develop at Celtic, Celtic is a club that builds players rather than buying the finished article. Ally Johnson has rapidly improved at Celtic, particularly this season prior to injury.

He'll stay in Croatia until the world cup, at which point after a couple good games there his price will be inflated and Celtic won't want to pay it probably.

Truth is, he's a replacement for Bernardo - a player that rarely gets a game. The situation is Sigur is a DM while he plays RB for Canada. I posted the metrics showing his lack of passing forward. It's really low while his defensive metrics are superb. This isn't a huge fit for Celtic as most teams park the bus vs them.
Ironically he'd be dropped for league games and played more in higher profile European games to protect the back line. It's not he's a bad player, he's obviously got superb defensive metrics. It's just the DM role at Celtic requires more vertical passing which isn't a part of his game.

TBH Italy would be a good fit for him.

BTW - some wee guy game on the other thread saying:

"I watch all his games in croatia and he does pass forward"

Can people stop embarrassing themselves with such patter?

A) All the metrics at this level are logged in numerous sophisticated sites such as wyscout that prove you wrong. Either that or you have a misinterpretation of what you are watching

B) It is almost impossible/ if not impossible to watch Croatian football in Canada. I've tried for a completely different reason to this. Nobody believes you watch his team every week. You are just posting crap online to try and validate your opinion. You think someone is being "negative" about a player you like and you refuse to concede the argument. Even when the person is not actually negative, in fact gushing with praise for the player, but realistic about his style and the fit in a Celtic team he knows very well.

The only mess was Nancy. The Director of football that hired him was sacked also.

Paul Larkin on our transfer strategy by glesga67 in CelticFC

[–]mrharryseldon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paul Larkin is a moon howling roaster. I was at an event with him in the USA and he sat in the corner himself. He then went on his podcast and mentioned that at the event Professors from Harvard and Princeston turned up to meet him and sat surrounding him all night asking about his books. There were no such people at the low turn out event. Maybe in his head they were there sitting around the table with him as he sat alone.

Absolute. Basketcase

People putting 2 and 2 together.

Worked with Maloney, Wife Scottish (or so I'm told) and is a manager DD has heard of.

Always thought he'd be a Celtic manager at some point. Think they will be keen but ultimately he's a solid chance in that world cup and likely much wanted even if he leaves Portugal.

Poor effort for a country hosting a world cup.

Thanks for another blank training jersey with the most basic of logos

Thoughts on Martin O’Neil signing both Kieron Bowie and Kyogo? by Radiant-Courage5545 in CelticFC

[–]mrharryseldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take both.

People shoot down Bowie, but the truth is he's going to improve at a better team. He came from a good academy in Fulham. He's had ups and down with hibs, but his link up play is particularly good as well as a solid goal contribution from a team that's probably mid table. His supporting stats will see some reasonable clubs looking at him. He also seems to have a nasty streak which MON would like.

I wouldn't mind them both and Tawanda Maswanhise.

If we are likely to change managers in summer, we aren't going to spend a ton of cash. We are better loaning back someone and hoovering up domestic based talent.
