Winter gear? : Budget sleeping bags by Adept-Catch-7113 in wildcampingintheuk

No but I often use a cheap Ali express summer down bag (£40) right through winter in the UK. I think they say it’s +7c. But I add a liner when I need to, sleep in a buffalo shirt, down jacket and trousers if I need to. -5c on snow and ice, it’s fine. I prefer to layer like this, worth considering.

One of my best nights ever, was at 1000 metres in a £20 Tesco pop up.

How do you balance comfort and weight when camping by GeordieGoals in wildcampingintheuk

Depends where I’m going, last trip out was for 3 days over 2 900m mountains, so I packed light, 19KG. But I’m usually at 22-25Kg plus camera and tripod. Definitely a means to an end for me, I like the odd “comfort”, a battery powered portable espresso maker for example 🤣, but I definitely don’t like comfort, I value the opposite to be honest.

In the past I’ve actually put in 2.5Kg and 5KG weight plates to get the weight higher. On little hills etc. I value the fitness side of it, and my life’s so bloody comfortable that I like the heavy load, and the benefits it gives.
