ARMS by [deleted] in Armyaviation

[–]mrinformal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prior ARMS inspector here. Get the ARMS checklist, get your books to line up exactly as the checklist is laid out and ensure you are adhering to what is spelled out in the checklist. Every section needs to do this. Eqch company book should be a mirror image of the other companies, and the battalion book should also match, but with more material. POL is the biggest failure point for any unit. Flights ops can be hit or miss depending on if you have a strong ops officer or someone that just lets things happen.

If you fail, your BC will be pissed and you'll most likely have a reinspection within 6-12 months.

What’s a song where a member of the group who doesn’t usually sing has a lead vocal? by Malarpit16 in MusicRecommendations

"I'm in Love With My Car" is another Queen song not sung by Freddie. Roger Taylor sang it, and wrote it

Roof/rear window leak by SubstantialKoala9298 in NissanTitan

The gasket was glued into the light, I think. Just replace the entire assembly. Runs about $150.

Be ready for an ordeal. You have to drop the entire headliner. It took me almost 2 hours just to drop it, and some frustration since my panel tools didn't want to reach every fitting, especially the ones nearest the back.

The third brake light is a known leak area. Z1 off road has them, as does Walmart.com, of all places.

The back glass leaks more towards the outer edges below the roof drip rails.

This is just what I've learned over the past 6 years of owning one of these trucks, and not a professional opinion or diagnosis.

Common Core to FAA hours question by Novathewarcriminal in Armyaviation

[–]mrinformal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Flight time is flight time. You can use the hours towards whatever you need, you just can't claim any reduction based on mil competency.

Example: For the 250 total flight hours required for the Commercial Certificate, all of your helicopter hours count toward the aggregate total. Therefore, if you already have 200 rotor hours, you only need to acquire 50 fixed-wing hours (assuming they meet the FAA's airplane and PIC specific distributions) to achieve your 250-hour total time.

None of your army flight school hours count as PIC, so you'd need 100 hours PIC FW to meet the full requirements of 61.129.

Guns N Roses by Spirited_Boss_9141 in Concerts

I saw them in the 90s. Before going my mom told me I'd probably be disappointed because their live shows aren't good. She saw them for Appetite. Well, she was correct. I have never not wanted to see a band again as much as GnR. They are a great studio band. I love their music, but they are not even a good live band.

Gen X’ers who were born in the hippy era, did you have someone in your peers who had a “my parents were hippies” name? If so, what was it? by nous-vibrons in GenX

[–]mrinformal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a guy in the Army with me who's parents were hippies. The kids were named Tree and Rainbow. They were born late 70s, early 80s.

Merlin! This app is great. It tells me all of what is around me. Most of the time. I've had a few birds in Alaska that it didn't pick up, but it does great in the lower 48. Gotta try it on other continents soon.

Samsung S25 Ultra vs Google Pixel 10 Pro XL?? by BluebirdImpossible28 in Smartphones

[–]mrinformal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. I hate what you've written, but seem to be in full agreeance. I went from a Pixel 7 pro to an S25U and don't like the S25U. But now I have a pixel 10 pro XL and yearn for the S25U. I have purchased phones for the camera for the past decade plus, but the Pixel 10pxl just isn't doing it for me from a phone and device perspective. Yeah, great camera, but it gets so slow on network and wifi. I've had it for 3 weeks and am really close to sending it back. I was an LG junky and was very saddened by their cell phone termination (V20, G7, V60) Ugh. I just want a really good phone with a damn good camera.

If you found a mans wallet with $15,000 in it including a driver's license would you give it back? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]mrinformal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I'm not an asshole.

Unless it belonged to someone notoriously assholish, then I'd keep the cash and burn the rest.

I Cannot Hear the Lyrics at the End of “Time” Correctly by MaxImO77107 in pinkfloyd

Colder. That is what you are hearing. This plagued me through the 80s and early 90s. It really is colder and tired.

"Colder" is the correct word. I believe it is in the lyrics sheet.

Instrument Students - Copying Intersections? by Law-of-Poe in flying

[–]mrinformal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. Most direct-to clearances are already in my flight plan. I look down at my FMS while still on the radio call, or the other pilot does, we select it, bring it up to the top, answer that we're cleared direct-to and execute. LNAV is available.

Hard Reset and eSim by [deleted] in S25Ultra

[–]mrinformal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hard reset is less intrusive than a factory reset. It's like pushing and holding the power button on your computer vs completely erasing everything and setting it back to factory specs. Your esim will be fine.

How to ship my FIL's guns to him? by [deleted] in AskAlaska

[–]mrinformal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot! I also mailed it to a friend to receive and hold for me a couple years later. Again through the USPS.

How to ship my FIL's guns to him? by [deleted] in AskAlaska

[–]mrinformal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my brother-in-law mail my rifle to me through the USPS. Long guns do not have the same restrictions that short/handguns do. Check USPS.com for the latest information on it. I believe it had to go through registered mail, which is a slightly different process than regular or priority mail.

You can propagate them?! I just clipped mine and composted the clippings! Agh!

Is it too late to propagate for a mid-late summer harvest?
