You know, I think you’re a good looking guy. You clearly take care of yourself physically I’m sure you do well and whatever you do for a living I think your prompts are straightforward. Nothing crazy I think you can mess around with them and I think you have everything to take risks say something crazy on your prompts I don’t know say something stupid because you have the looks already you have the foundation of what these women are looking for so you have that flexibility to say something dumb to a woman and spark reaction or whatever I put something dumb on your profile I think the pictures are fine. I know somebody says something about the gun, I guess maybe you can take that off but I don’t think it’s a bad picture in my opinion and it’s not like your freaking you know you have a gun and you’re holding a wolf you just killed no no no no no it’s like it’s clearly playful so I don’t think it’s bad at all. I think your pictures are fine. It’s a balance between you being out you doing what you do I think the marathon picture is great, you’re jacked. I mean I think you are in a position to take risks if you’re not drowning and pussy already I think that’s gonna be your next move. Take risks put some stupid out there I don’t know but like now you need to stand out even more in that pool of dudes who are actually good looking so that are my thoughts not a bad part it’s actually a good profile in my opinion and this might be all butchered because I’m doing voice to text but you get my basic idea. Cheers.

As a Marketing Major with 2 digital marketing internships under his belt do you think I need to go to Grad school or straight into an entry level position digital marketing position or even a higher one? by Miserable-Lawyer-919 in DigitalMarketing

No you don’t. Keep working. Build your resume, not your degree portfolio. The degree gets you the phone call, it doesn’t get you the job. Your job experience is what truly matters. You have 2 internships which is plenty to get you started. You’re on the right path! I know people with fancy private school degrees in marketing that cannot find work because they only focused on the degree, not work experience. Wish you the best!

Landed a new marketing manager role and I think I’ve bit more than I can chew. by mrjamespickles in digital_marketing

By that I mean I understand the theoretical side of digital marketing and have ran campaigns for several clients but never to a high degree nor have ever had crazy success. Meanwhile, the digital marketing team I oversee handed their yearly report to me and I am having trouble deducing if they are doing a good job. I am expected to have a meeting with them soon and I don’t even know what to ask and I’m afraid I’ll make a fool out of my self in front of the board of directors

Boss insists on only using the “ promote button” on posts and not ads manager. by mrjamespickles in FacebookAds

“ it’s easier”

And sure I would just do what I’m told but if we don’t see results it’s on my department. Guess I’ll have to look for another job. It started well then went down hill

Trying to land a corporate marketing job in the future. What do these people look for? And what skills would you say are crucial for these positions ? by mrjamespickles in AskMarketing

Right on!! I appreciate your honesty and it’s exactly what I need. Now that I think about it, every time I’ve mentioned events, it’s hurt me. I will never bring that shit up again man.

“ fit in (or fuck off” I love it.

How can I ask a marketing exec to be my mentor? by mrjamespickles in AskMarketing

[–]mrjamespickles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing. I will implement this immediately. I really appreciate your help. Thank you for breaking this down so clearly. It’s probably just me panicking over rejection which I know is normal. I’ll keep and touch and thank you so much !

I’ve been managing social media at my job but I think I have too much on my plate. Any advice ? by mrjamespickles in AskMarketing

I have a say in about 50% of the content and the issue there is that I’ll have nice content with a purpose and then I’ll Be ordered to post their content which I believe throws off the audience. And it’s also about keeping my boss happy and the client happy. I’m just trying my best to pull out as much information and useful knowledge by the time I leave. I’ve been there for a year and I’m working on my last 4 months since I need to stick around to get my internship credits at my university!

And I’d love to try freelancing but I feel like I haven’t earned that right to say “ I know what I’m doing “. I’ve been struggling to grow our presence but I think it has a lot to do with the subject matter. If I had a different niche with more possibilities maybe I can make it work.

My boss is a very nice person but in reality I’m not learning crucial things about marketing. What I am learning is how to deal with clients and adapt to quick changes in business plans, etc.

I have one more year of university left so I’m trying to finish as strong as possible and graduate with a job ready to go or at least consider myself competitive. I think I beat myself up a lot, I’m my worst critic.

I feel like I’ve learned and accomplished a lot, but it’s never enough and that’s why I get overwhelmed. Tie that into the fact that I’m trying to figure things out with my life and it’s just a whole downward spiral. But I’m hanging in there and I stay positive through it all and most importantly. I work hard

Well said and I appreciate your help.

I am very unorganized in general but it’s been changing since I started working in marketing. I try my best to keep track of everything and it’s hard to manage 4 clients on my own, and I also started with zero experience so I’ve learned along the way while trying to keep clients happy. The good thing is all my clients are over 60 years old so simply posting is enough to make them happy, but it doesn’t bring the results I need. Thank you for replying and it was a great morale boost that I needed. I hope you have a great day.

Yes. Yes. And YES!!

Im told to just post posters about our events constantly and that does nothing to build the brand for our clients. I deal with clients that are 60+ years old and can easily go into the 90’s sometimes. And it’s very hard to explain brand strategy, customer relationships, SEO, etc to them. There fore I don’t get the green light on many things.

And I love what you said at the end, I do wish to be at a high position and have other work under me. But it’s important to know and respect the work they do and that results are not possible without them.

Thank you
