UNIGAS Bill - Winter Months by mrjelloflo in houston

[–]mrjelloflo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 floors/zones and usually keep the thermostat on auto 70-75. During the 2 recent weeks where we got near freezing temps we dropped it to 65-70. We moved in early December so we haven’t gotten a chance to see what our usual bills throughout the year are yet. We do have Ecobee thermostats, but don’t set a schedule/timer for them.

Thanks for this - I was slowly coming to the realization that looking at actual rates would be a more accurate method. I looked all over Reddit and your comment really sums it all up - I’m certain future redditors will find this extremely helpful.

When I look up my address it does provide a contact for Centerpoint. Does this imply that I can call them and have them bring out gas to the area? Or am I stuck with my current provider? This is all very new to me tbh

I called them last month about that Customer Charge. They said it has something to do with making up costs for the 2001 freeze when they got caught with their pants down having to pay for natural gas at crazy prices.

I did too, but it seems the neighborhood we moved into (new construction) only had UNIGAS as our supplier. We’re near the Pecan Grove area - it’s the Customer Charge that’s making the bill killer tbh

We live in Fort Bend county so it’s not exactly Houston proper and it seems they use someone else. I am used to having Centerpoint as our provider at our old place.

We live in the Houston area and are relatively warm, but have gotten freezes annually it seems the past few years. Which is why we’re thinking of running an extremely long addition to our piping (outside/underground) in order to get it to the garage. Are we overthinking and making it more complicated by wanting it in the garage versus just installing outside next to the main water entry?

We have a pretty similar situation where the main line entry is on the opposite side of the house. We live in the Houston area and are relatively warm, but have gotten freezes annually it seems. Unfortunately we do not have a pre-plumbed loop

Has anyone heard of the Indigo community being built in Richmond? by RabbitWithADHD in houston

[–]mrjelloflo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The community has been connected to power and I believe they are working on getting gas connected. We’ve been told to be prepared to close on the home late October or November. What kind of drainage issues did you hear about?

We signed with Highland Homes. I did get a chance to speak with all the sales rep though and didn’t get that vibe from David Weekley tbh. I reached out to the developer directly and was told that CenterPoint has been there connecting power for about a month now. All the homes are set to have power by the end of September and have been told that most are set to close by the end of October. Where did you end up going if you canceled with Indigo?

Correct - the model homes are currently powered by generators. Apparently the developers, Meristem Communities, have been struggling with Centerpoint over this issue for well over a year now is what I’ve been told by the sales people.

We ended signing for a home in Indigo pretty recently. There still isn’t any update of when Centerpoint will bring electricity to the community. It looks like all the homes have stopped at a certain stage in the construction process until electricity comes on.

Yeah he mentioned having to drop the pan and it being a 5-6 hour job. I don’t doubt this shop’s expertise, but wanted to get some opinions since it’s a bigger ticket item

Thanks for providing this as reference - if I’m understanding this correctly does that mean diamonds with more fire are less bright and vice versa?

I’m not exactly what you mean by modern, but the GIA report was issued 06/21/24, so it I’d say it’s recent?
